A fantastic book. As an English teacher who has never taught language separately, this book has been an absolute life saver. Very well written and easy to work with.

A well structured text which breaks down the art of teaching English into understandable chunks. I have taught a bit of language and wish that I had had this at the time! It is straight forward and doesn't assume too much about the reader's own prior knowledge. Worth the money.

Just what is needed. Thoughtful insights combined with practical steps to expanding your toolkit. Comprehensive. This book has already become a go to and I would recommend it to both a trainee and head of department.

I started teaching this September, and was terrified about my AS English language class, particularly because of my lack of subject knowledge. This book has proved invaluable thus far, and I will continue to refer to it as long as I am teaching the subject.

Invaluable to anyone starting to teach English language (like myself), and to those who want to brush up on their skills. A must-have!

What is successful here is the way that we are given a clear account of what is important to know to get going with teaching the course. Even better is the fact that the authors are actually interested in helping the students become better communicators rather than fretting about making sure they pass an exam. Thoughtful and wise; couldn't be better!
