Complete, collected episodes from four seasons of the Channel 4 drama set in Summerdown Comprehensive, where the teachers are just as juvenile (if not more so) as the teenagers they are supposed to be educating. Series 1 follows the misadventures of teacher Simon Casey (Andrew Lincoln), who has as many problems in his personal life as he has in his classroom. Lowlights of his school year include being kicked out of his father's flat, getting dumped by his girlfriend and getting caught smoking a joint with a pupil. In Series 2, the focus shifts away from Simon as he decides his life is boring and buys a one-way ticket to South America. But there are still intrigues and politics aplenty unfolding at Summerdown... In Series 3, it's business as usual for the young teachers who specialise in immaturity rather than the traditional subjects, as they continue to spend their working life making friends, falling out, trying to figure out the opposite sex, smoking in the playground and dealing with lippy pupils. In series 4, Summerdown Comp has merged with a rival school, Bob (Lloyd McGuire) goes in search of a Thai mail-order bride, and the rest of the staff begin to suspect that Penny (Tamzin Malleson) is a Nazi after learning that her real surname is Eichmann.

Also the fringe characters stay the same throughout and their involvement in the series grows from series one to four, Bob, Liz, Carole and Claire are all genius characters and you can imagine quite true to real life. They are also incredibly loveable and you want to find out where their misadventures are heading next. This is an amazing achievement for bit part players in a series. I would strongly recommend that you purchase this as if you ever bothered turning up for school there is going to be a scenario you recognise somehow and its bound to make you smile when it happens.
I really love the camaraderie of this show... despite the various cast comings and goings, I think the show managed to stay fresh and interesting and very funny too throughout all series'.
Okay, I recently weeded out my dvds and watched them in order..I personally felt seasons 2 and 3 are the best.
Series 1 is very Simon -centred... I know Andrew Lincoln was the star of the show and main attraction originally thanks to his This Life fame ... but God, it was a bit irritating watching back how his neurosis was focused on so much in series one as opposed to really developing the other characters... knowing how fun they were in subsequent seasons, I was kinda itching to get through season 1 because it does feel very like The Simon (and maybe Jenny) Show...
Season 2 is cracking, the show shifts more evenly towards other characters.. Susan after her divorce is fun, Jenny is more likeable but still bitchy enough to be interesting, Kurt and Brian take focus more too and their double act really is polished, Penny is hilariously incompetent and couldn't care less and JP is kinda charmingly smug... Of course, Liz is a bigger bitch this year too and fun to watch and Carol is still pining for Kurt and Simon leaves by the end of the series (and it is really a relief I feel).
Series 3 is great too... I feel it's the peak really... it shows how the show is way more than an Andrew Lincoln vehicle.Read more ›
I laughed myself sick while watching it. Series 2 and 3 are the best.
Andrew Lincoln heads a stellar cast in the first two series and makes a return in series three, as the self centred English teacher, Simon. Other people to watch out for are James Corden (Smithy in Gavin and Stacey) as a super swotty student and Matthew Horn (Gavin from Gavin and Stacey) in series four.
If this is what teachers are really like, I am worried about sending my kids to school.
An absolutely hilarious steal at this price.

I had something different in mind regarding teachers. In this series they seem to be hormone infested teenagers. Good gracious!Published 4 months ago by harry p.
Great little series starring Andrew Lincoln, before he got too busy doing stuff and thaaaangs in the zombie apocalypse.Published 6 months ago by Kayleigh Marie Edwards
