I don't normally give 5 stars and I haven't even knit anything out of this book yet, but all the instructions seem clear and best of all the designs are orginal but practical and not a hippy effort in sight. There is much more you wouldn't feel silly giving as a silly gift or donating to wow at the church fair!

I ordered this book for my wife who is a very keen knitter. She just loves it and has created some pretty impressive tea cosies for our friends and family and has even knitted some for the local Girl Guides sale. She says the only problem is deciding which cosy to knit next.

I bought the set of these 4 books and like previous reviews, the sizes are not given, some of the yarns are obsolete and no alternative given.......but more annoying......there are several typo errors, one says work 8rows stocking stitch when the picture clearly is garter stitch as the pattern was at the start. Another completely misses out the decreasing section of a leaf, left with 7 stitches it said knit 2 tog then fasten off??? The other one is in the same pattern, book 2 page 43. During shaping the top the maths don't work out and the wrong number of stitches are stated. Now, I'm an experienced knitter but a novice would be driven to chuck the whole bl.... Thing out of the window. For goodness sake these are basic patterns and should be adequately checked and tested prior to publication. I've e mailed the company

I don't know what book Catherine Halliday has but in the copy I have, there is no such error. Row 12 is the bead row 13, says purl and rows 14 to 16 are knit rows and the rest continue in moss stitch as they should. Nor is there a problem with the eyelet row, the only other change from moss stitch. I should know, a friend has made the cozy (cosy) completely error-free and found the design not only to be stylish and attractive but a very easy knit to make! Perhaps Ms Halliday mis-read it or confused it with something else about which she wished to complain! As other readers have said, there are some delightful designs in the book (including Little Black Dress)that represent fabulous creativity and use of yarn. I shall certainly be buying more in the series for my knitting friends. All the cozies (cosies) are beautifully photographed in full colour close-up, so it isn't difficult to see what you should be doing as a knitter - as others have testified in their reviews.

This book has not been checked for mistakes. I made the washday cozy but would have found it confusing if I was new to knitting. When making one of the pieces the instructions say cast off to 4 stitches then says continue on these 5 stitches. One piece doesn't even tell you to cast off, so at first I thought I had to cast on more stitches and join the to the ones still on the needle. The pattern for the little black dress is also wrong.

This is a super little book, my sister in law bought it, and I bought the book for my mother in law, her friend saw it and wanted one, so I bought her one and bought one for myself. This book has made a lot of old ladies very happy. Thank you Amazon once more for your excellent service. Even if I never knit a Tea Cosy it is a lovely little book to own.

Great fun in these austere times and for £6 money well spent to raise a smile. Like other reviews, this has not been proof read by anyone who knits and there are mistakes. I made wash day (on front cover) and had I not been an experienced knitter, would have struggled with the instructions. Purl rows are described as knit, the author forgets to tell us to turn work before casting on and then turn again to finish the row when making neck holes. Too much space given for photo's, but otherwise a fun book and good for bazaar knits. SOme wonderful patterns and some really naff ones.
