This is the sequel to Thirst. Ava is struggling to come to terms with her new life ~ she has gone from being a virtual hermit to someone who is surrounded by people! Carl is annoying her, Peter is avoiding her and she doesn't trust Eddie. She is becoming aware that she has more powers than an ordinary vampire or even a Daywalker but is reluctant to let know others know this. She can see the "energies and magic" around other beings, she can sense when people aren't human or vampire, smell/taste emotions ~ especially negative ones ~ and consequently anticipate things before they happen. Caught between two warring vampire covens, she agreed (in Thirst) to work for one ~ her first job is to kill the leader of the opposition, a vampire who'd kidnapped her Gran and tortured Ava. His successor decides to have a whole host of charges pressed against Ava and she finds herself fighting for her life. Ava needs to find out what the vampire leaders are hiding, why Peter is avoiding her and why people view her as so dangerous, when she sees herself as non~confrontational and non~ threatening.

I enjoyed this fast paced book. It is written simplistically, is easy to follow and creative. Ava is likeable and well rounded: her emotional baggage, her resentment of her Gran, her frustration and anger are all believable and understandable. The reader, like Ava, wonders who is trustworthy and who isn't, as no~one seems to be whom they appear to. When loyalty switches and friendship can be bought, who can you trust? I look forward to the next book in this series.

Ok if you like TV movies / series like Vampire Diaries, Grimm, Buffy, Angel, True Blood, Supernatural etc you will NOT put this book down. I'm not a big reader but having bought the first one of this series as a "trial" a few weeks ago I read it in 2 days. (That's pretty good for me!) Could not wait to purchase the second one and then the third and forth which I am currently reading. The characters develop and are rich in content as is the ongoing story through the books. Each book finishes the story but allows continuation as the plots thickens and questions you had maybe in the previous book is explained, but opens up more intrigue and .. "I really want to know what happens next". It is brilliant. Truley well written and very clever in using previous story to explain in current book. I can not recommend this book enough. If you like the above mentioned TV genre / themes you will be hooked I am sure. Just hope the author is planning a book six nin the series otherwise a 40 something bikew rider may shed a tear .. it is that good ! Honest !

This is the sequel to "Thirst (Ava Delaney #1)" Ava is struggling to come to terms with her new life, she has gone from being a near loner to someone who is surrounded by people.
Aware she is becoming more than a vampire or day walker she is unwilling to let her friends know just exactly what powers she is developing.
I must say I enjoyed this high-speed story, it is woven by this story-weaver in such a way that you follow its plots, twists and turns effortlessly, and Claire's creative talent is manifestly magic itself.
This story carries on from where "Thirst (Ava Delaney #1)" left us with all the characters where they should be.
Another winning story from one of my favourite story-weavers, I am already reading book 3 and look forward to more stories from Claire Farrell.

Everything gets so much more complex and creepy in this book and you are genuinely worried for Ava. But, I think in this book Ava really comes into herself and this makes it all the more interesting to read about, already got the rest of the series on my wishlist :)

Another good story in what's turning into an interesting series. Typing mistakes make some passages difficult to read ('ass he' for instance - needs a second glance to turn it into 'as she'), which is unfortunate, because anything that spoils the flow of the story is regrettable. This is a good story. The characters are great. I love the development going on, and simple typing mistakes become annoying because they throw you out of the story. Even so, I'd recommend this. There's a great blend of different species going on, and so refreshing to have humans as something more than Happy Meals on legs. Can't wait for the next instalment.

Others have already written about the plot so I'll keep it brief. Can only add that I read this in a 2 hour sitting and then started book 3. Was 60% through when my Kindle battery ran out. Doh !. Was too engrossed to notice.

Excellent writing. Similar theme to Twilight in that the heroine is trying to not take human blood and vamps escape by swimming out to sea - but enough interesting twists and turns to be completely different at the same time. Some unique and imaginative ideas in this series. Liked the succubus plot line.

Still not sure who she can trust...

Must go finish 3....

Taunt is the second book in the Ava Delaney series. Lots of twists and turns in this book, new characters and new supernatural beings.

Ava is still the main character and still wants a normal life, will she ever get it or will she just be used by the vampires??.

Really good read.
