The complete tattoo aftercare kit is everything you need to heal a new tattoo and keep in looking as good as the day you got it. It's not just for healing. Tattoo Goo is for the LIFE of your tattoo. To help maintain your bright colours use tattoo ointments and lotions. Tattoo Goo was designed to preserve and rejuvenate your ink colours, not just heal them. Remember, a tattoo is a scar and scars take up to one year to heal. Yes it's healed on the outside but under the skins surface is still healing for up to one year. Kit includes: Tattoo Goo 3/4 ounce Tattoo Goo Deep Cleansing Soap 2 ounce Tattoo Goo Quick Penetrating lotion 2 ounce Colo Guard SPF 30 .45 ounce

The anti bacterial wash did not sting or irritante my skin in any way which was a bonus! And it didn't have any nasty smells! As for the lotion I found it really easy to apply and had a pleasant smell and found it helped heal the tattoo faster and made the itching more barable !
Comparing my first tattoo to the other two I have where I used this product I would say it is well worth the money especially if you have a good couple tattoos and are planning on getting more! The price is amazing for four products and you only need a tiny amount so should last a decent amount of time!
Overall I would recommend this product for anyone who wants to ensure there new tattoo is looking at its best after during and after healing !
The kits are worth buying for the anti-bac wash and balm alone, which are both great products. The wash did a fantastic job of removing the lymph from the surface of my skin after the initial tattoo, which helped make sure that the scabs that developed during the healing process were very thin and even across the tattoo. I have always found that balms seem to work better than lotions for healing my tattoos as the consistency is smoother and sinks into the skin evenly, while also giving a little bit of protection. The Tattoo Goo lotion is very light, and perfect for when you reach slightly later stages of healing and don't need something quite so intensive.
I'm still not totally convinced on the sunscreen(nb: that this comes with the lotion version, not the stick): I've used it on some of my older tattoos and found that while it does make them look brighter, it seemed to rub off quite easily. The sunscreen is the only reason why I've marked this down a star.
Many weeks and multiple sessions later, my tattoo is looking great! It's worth noting that for a very large tattoo, you will probably need more that one of these kits for the entire process, but the products are great and you will get good use out of them!
My aftercare routine was as follows:
- 4 hours after tattoo, unwrap and wash carefully (and gently) with the anti-bac wash and cool water, making sure to gently wash away all blood, lymph, and extra ink. Pat dry with a clean paper towel and allow to air dry fully for another 10 minutes before applying your moisturizer (in my case, this was bepanthen for the first couple days as I usually follow the artist's aftercare instructions for the first couple of days)
- Apply bepanthen as per tattoo artist's instructions
- Use anti-bac wash to clean tattoo twice daily, once in my morning shower, once in the evening before bed. Pat dry with paper towel and moisturize once fully dry.
Days 4-9 (basically as long as the tattoo seems to need something more protective and soothing)
-Wash once a day with anti-bac wash (usually in shower)
- Switch to tattoo goo balm and reapply as necessary throughout the day. Don't over apply, and use a paper towel to blot off excess if needed.
-Use tattoo goo balm after morning shower and before bed to ensure plenty of moisture
-Use tattoo goo lotion during the day for lighter moisturizing. This is especially great for when you get to the peeling-like-a-sunburn stage of healing.
The pic is of the whole tattoo almost fully healed (although the colours are still brightening every day). I'm very happy with the finished result!
Photo is end of peeling day 6.
Just follow instructions and you'll be fine. All is clearly explained on the box. I went through the healing stage without any complications.
Remember not to pick scabs! Use lavender salve as the 1st aid, soon after tattoo session.
Ask your tattooist for advice, mine was very helpful and knowledgable.
I have to say the aftercare lotion is so nice and gentle, I used it as facial moisturiser, even under delicate eyes area.
It's non greasy and very light, based on olive extract.
My butterfly tattoo looks perfect!
The salve wasn’t good for me during the dreaded itching phase so I bought my tattoo artist recommended Hustle Butter which was SO much better. No itches at all on that! So, my routine is: Tattoo Goo wash, Tattoo Goo lotion, then when that’s soaked in, Hustle Butter. Healed like a dream and no stinging, even just when the shop cling film comes off.
Haven’t used the sun cream yet (as we’re in the middle of a typical UK miserable winter at time of using/reviewing) but I plan to come summer.
Would highly recommend shelling out for specialised after-tattoo care though. Bepanthan was the classic and indeed, it seems better to pop to your local supermarket to grab this at a tenth of the price but their formula has changed and actually makes tattoos bleed colour. I can attest to that after my tattoo a few years before the half-sleeve. Getting a finished tattoo re-coloured was no joke! Tattoos cost a lot, so protect your investment and spend a bit more on specialised aftercare products. This kit is good value for money. I just found the salve wasn’t much cop but I do have dry skin.
Note that the products included may be the same size as bought separately - but not big enough to see you through healing of a big tattoo like a sleeve or half-sleeve so you’ll likely buy more like I did.
