When you've followed the French and guzzled the Greek, eyed the Italian and sampled the Swiss - try eating Egyptian for a change. These easy recipes - with their photos (alas black and white in the main, blame Kindle!)and snippets of information about Arabic culture tucked around them - are really fun to try. But be warned - your everyday Egyptian dish should carry a health warning: moreish!

I decided I would cook some Egyptian food for my friend and myself. It was a cuisine we had not tried before. I found Shirley Elmokadem's recipes straightforward to follow and the results did not disappoint. We thoroughly enjoyed the subtly spiced Lamb Koftas and tasty Stuffed Vine Leaves, served with two-tone rice done with Shirley's method. We followed up with ma'amouls, delicious mouthfuls of sweet soft date in a light textured pastry. I am planning to try more of these recipes as it makes a nice change to serve up something different and interesting. Thse recipes are healthy and very enjoyable. I would recommend more people serve Egyptian food next time they have dinner guests.

I found this a great introduction to food that I wouldn't normally prepare. I'd never tried Egyptian cuisine as I have no access to it, so this book is a perfectly easy way to discover something different. Unlike some other cultural recipe books, the instructions in this one are easy to understand (and pretty much fool-proof) which means there's no stress at preparation time. I particularly like the photographs, little anecdotes and personal stories the author has sprinkled throughout the pages.
This e-book is a joy and I highly recommend it. Do yourself a favour and treat your mind as well as your tastebuds with the senses and flavours of Egypt by buying "A Taste Of Egyptian Cookery."
