Having used Tascam products for over 25 years this brought me into the digital age with this type of learning aid. Just upload the songs or music via laptop to the device direct with the lead supplied, or remove the SD card supplied and upload to that, then you are good to go. Small enough to run from batteries it is completely portable to be used any where. I fitted it to my guitar strap ( could easily sit in a back pocket) which allows me to roam free as I learned.
Functions like on-board tuner, instrument play back levels, looping of any playback section, facility to slow the speed of any playback section without pitch loss, pitch changing so that you never re-tune the instrument, you just change the pitch of the track, When used with the slow down function, the loop facility lets you hear fast or intricate sections slowly and in tune, great stuff. Even when connected to a laptop for power via USB or in the mains, via USB plug ( not supplied) it is a great addition to any teaching or learning aid.

Much better than the previous MP3 trainers from Tascam - better to have use of own batteries, SD card option, all good. BUT, the key feature is the variable speed ability (otherwise its a glorified MP3 player with an input) which is alas not as good as previous. Instead of the Pitch Control speed, its variable speed and manually adjusted Key which is fiddly and difficult to get spot on. The speed adjustment notches (+/-10%) are also too large and should have been smaller. A real shame. Stick with the old ones until they update this and sort it out. Potentially good but not there yet.

I use the Tascam CD-GT1, which is an excellent practice aid but has one drawback. The time it takes for the CD to get back up to speed after pausing is a major irritation. This is not really a fault of the device but a limitation of the CD player. Obviously there is also a delay at any other time that the CD has to spin up to speed.

The GB-10, using an SD card to hold the music, exhibits no such wait time when pausing during play or when looping on a passage while trying to learn fast pieces or complicated fingering. I am very pleased with the product.

What a great little tool.
Connect to your PC v via the included USB cable, download your favourite songs, plug in you guitar/ headphones and off you go. The interface is quite intuitive, I have used all features without needing to refer to the manual. It can be a bit difficult a to read, especially in low light.
When music is slowed down, the tone remains but at maximum reduction (50%) does get a bit stuttery. The sound quality is not that good and the guitar effects are poor/limited but those are not the primary reasons for using this.
To learn to play along to your favourites or the play the cds that come with many tutorial books you can't go wrong with this little gem.

This is perfect when you're really busy and you can't be by your amp all day.

Load up SD card with songs, jack in, earphones in, go! Its so simple and easy to operate, and takes away the limits of time and location! I like having the folder views so that I can sort my songs into specific groups for specific sessions.

The loop feature is great too! You might find a lick in a song that you really want to learn so you set the start and stop of the loop and play it over and over until you learn it. Couple that with the fact that you can slow it down, and what's stopping you from getting it right?

The record feature is also brilliant when you're on the go. You can instantly capture an idea you have and then listen back later.
