I love Highland romances and Time Travel romances as well so putting them together and for me you have a winner of course the writing and the characters have to be spot on too otherwise it's not worth reading, in this case you truly do have a winner, I was transported to the Isle of Skye along with Claire and was drawn into the adventure as much as she was.
I've often imagined what I'd be like if I was drawn back in time and how I'd act, what I'd love would be to meet a Scot like Duncan, and oh what a man he is “Had to be about six-five or six-six. Definitely had a foot on her, for sure. Blue eyes, like the kid. Long black hair that flowed in the wind. He was wearing a kilt, and had the same tartan pattern strewn across his body, shoulder to waist and held down with a belt, but no shirt beneath. A huge, defined pec peeked out and her stomach fluttered.” My heart would have fluttered too, but Duncan doesn't only look good he's also got that sincere heart that we are all looking for, I think I fell for him as he offered Claire his Tartan to cover herself but with such tact and decency.
Claire is a thoroughly modern woman, who although she knows a lot about Scotland never thought she would be back in the seventeenth century there. Depends on the who I'd meet but I would miss my iPad and I don't think I'd cope as well as Claire, who's character is wonderful and another on my list of book BFF's.
With Duncan and Claire being the main characters there are still some secondary characters worth mentioning, the slimed Riley the pirate captain, I'd be wanting to wipe my hand down after meeting him, and his seer who I'd be hitting if she looked at my man like that.

My first book by this author and as it's the first in her new Highland Secrets series a very good place to start. There are lots of books out there that feature time travel as a romance devise and frankly sometimes they work and sometimes they just don't! Although this book is largely set in the seventeenth century the author has cleverly focussed on the characters rather than tried for lots of historical accuracy and it makes this book an easy fun and romantic read.
Claire quite literally finds herself naked and running on a beach on the Isle of Skye and has no idea how she come to be there. Her memory is hazy but one thing she's positive about is she is dreaming , isn't she? Meeting Duncan the laird is surely part of her overactive imagination and she's going to wake up soon, isn't she? Slowly coming to terms with the idea that she's travelled back in time Claire finds that Duncan surpasses all her wildest fantasies of what a sexy Scottish man would be like. Duncan's a canny one though as he wants to know more about Claire and tries his hardest to gain her trust.
Duncan's brother has been kidnapped by the Fae and it's clear that Claire's dramatic appearance may well have something to do with the magic used. Maybe by working together Duncan can find a way to get his brother back and Claire can find a way home to her own time. There's a passion brewing between them that cannot be denied. Time is running out though and they will risk their lives but can Duncan really stand by and watch this fascinating woman leave and more importantly will Claire still want to ?
What a simply fabulous little book. It sucked this reader in right from the start with it's likeable and warm characters and a simple storyline that just whisked me away.

I'm always up for a time traveling romance so this was a treat. 17th century Scotland was an added bonus. Duncan MacLeod is sex in a kilt, Claire the all-American girl who arrives naked on his beach. The attraction is instant. I'll be looking out for the rest of the series

This book had no substance for me. The hero and heroine had no build up of character and there was no romance as such mostly sex on their minds as soon as they saw each other!! Also there was no tension when there should have been some in the situation they found themselves.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Romance! 1 Sept. 2014

I really dislike stories with cliff-hangers and there is no need to worry about that here. This is a complete story with a HEA for the main couple, but there are secondary characters that are interesting enough that I am hoping they get stories of their own. Both the hero and heroine are both likable characters from the beginning to the end. This story has action, humor, magic, time travel, and a steamy romance! It might be a short story, but it is very much a complete story. This is a wonderful start to a series and I can't wait to read the other stories!

I really liked this book. Once I picked it up, it was hard to put down. The storyline is well written and sucks you in almost from the start. I love a good series, especially those that give glimpses of future pairings, and this one delivers! Currently reading book 2!!

A brilliant story bringing together modern day Scotland with ancient days, a beautiful romance story with the novelty of time travel.

I always enjoy the characters of this author. I feel like I know them personally, and I look forward to getting to know the next book's couple better. This was a fast-paced novella, a great rainy day read. Honestly, who wouldn't love a hot kilted Scot whispering brogue in their ear?
