About the Author

Detroit native, Sylvia Hubbard, a single mother of three, has worked tirelessly to promote and encourage emerging writers in Michigan. She independently published her first romance novel in 2000 and has continued to write in that genre, sometimes venturing into other subgenres. Always urban and contemporary styled, her writing is enjoyed all over the world. She has published 6 paperbacks and over 30 e-books. The same year she published, Ms Hubbard also created Motown Writers Network to fill the lack of education and networking for Michigan authors online and offline. By 2004, she was frustrated that all the literary conferences had moved too far away from the city and co-created The Essence of Motown Literary Jam Conference held only in the City of Detroit annually. In addition to romance writing, Hubbard has been featured at various conferences and workshops all over the United States and Canada, where she has taught authors how to sell their books on the Internet. She also published Internet Marketing for Writers & Businesses as a resource for those unable to attend her workshops. In the upcoming year, she will be featured in several anthologies and plans to publish additional e-books. "I'm no superwoman," she states with a smile that seems infinite on her lips. "I'm just being an asset in the world instead of a liability." Considered an addicted blogger by HoneyTechblog.com, nominated and recognized for her literary work in the Metro Detroit area, referred to as "A Literary Diva" by Detroit City Council and donned "Cliffhanger Queen" by her readers, she finds solace in speaking and educating on a variety of topics. Her subjects range from Creative Intimacy, Single Parenting, Blogging, E-Books, Publishing (all aspects i.e.: writing, publishing, marketing & promoting online & offline), and personal triumphs with inspiration mixed in. Never a disappointment, Sylvia Hubbard, has spoken in front of thousands all over the United States and Canada. Check out her website at SylviaHubbard.com.

I really enjoyed this book! It was packed full of suspense, thrill, love, hot off the page sparks and romance. I loved the chemistry between Devlin and Tanner. It did frustrate me in parts, as I just couldn't understand why Devlin had to play games and not tell his family the real situation between him and Tanner. I loved that although he was inexperienced, Devlin caught on very, very quickly and graduated to become even better than his teacher! He became a deliciously, brooding alpha male in every sense.

I would have given this book a stunning 5 stars, but with the amount of typos contained within this book, it wouldn't be fair. At one point I even thought I'd give it 3 stars due to the amount of typos. I would like to put it out there that I would even offer myself to help with proof reading your work, Ms Hubbard....FOR FREE, because I hate to see such a good piece of work being overshadowed by typos. There were even a couple of inconsistencies I spotted!

This was my first book by this author and I must say her pedigree shone through, this was a superbly well written book that laid waste to my ability to actually put a book down.
Both of the lead characters were engaging and their story was one that completely held me captive. The story never stood still, it bobbed and weaved its way through their lives and just when it seems as if I had a handle on what exactly was going on, the author took the story off on a tangent that I hadn’t expected.
I loved the zest for life that both Devlin and Tanner exhibited, the chemistry between them was easy on the eye, it was understandable and its evolvement was handled with care and consideration.
I liked that Tanner was a strong woman, she was resolute in her determination to make the changes that she needed too and despite the element of angst that was injected into the story with the unpredictability of her ex, I was proud of the fact that she wasn’t prepared to relive her past mistakes.
When it comes to Devlin, he was hard not to fall a little in love with, he had his limitations, in as much as he was physically inexperienced but that didn’t define him, he knew what he was underneath the surface and he was more than able to flex his perfectly alpha muscles.
Together they gave me a couple that I enjoyed reading about, that I cared about and that I was rooting for from almost the very start.
The author produced a strong book, she wove a contemporary story and studded it with just enough twists and turns to catch the reader unawares.

1.0 out of 5 stars Unrealistic & Not A Good Portrayal of Black People 24 April 2017
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
This was one of the worst stories I've read in a while first of all it culminates every stereo type there is about people of color the black man is a pimp and the white man is a prince, and the lead female is a prostitute. Fabulous isn't it? I just love reading such positive characteristics about people of color. This annoys & infuriates me to no end I cannot stand these type of portrayals of people of color just stop writing them already! The story itself was ridiculous I love fiction conversely this book was over the top. What royal would be as unprotected as this guy was? Not to mentioned the fact this woman was so not worth it and I doubt very seriously that a real royal would want to entangle him or herself in such a horrific state. I mean forget about protocol and social responsibility but survival. This book was all over the place not a fun read.
3.0 out of 5 stars Would have been four stars, but bad editing. 25 Jun. 2016

I wanted to give this book at least 4 stars but the editing was so bad. The story was interesting, albeit, unbelievable. A prostitute meets a John in a seedy hotel who turns out to be royalty??? NOT!!! But the concept was interesting. This author has such interesting books, but they are always poorly edited. I don't want to read while trying to determine the sentence meaning. This book had poor grammar, incorrect sentence structure, and holes in the story. The first page indicates that the book was edited by "Charise Smith." SHE SHLOULD BE FIRED.
4.0 out of 5 stars Grammer twists and turns 18 May 2016
By Freely - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
If it wasn't for the grammical mistakes, gross misspelling, I would give this book a five but after you keep having to reread a sentence or paragragh trying to figure out what she trying to say, man you are exhausted and just want to give her a two or three hoping it will get better but you know it wont because you have literally read most of her books, because she has some of the greatest ideas, and to date to me this was one of the best if you like Sylvia hubbard you will love this book the only twists is trying to figure out sometimes what she really wants to say!

I was rooting for Tanner all the way.Tanner was determined to change her life and wasn't going to allow anyone or anything get in her way. She took the chance and got herself away from her ex who was looking to harm her. Without giving away much, it was an excellent read and I enjoyed it. Ms. Hubbard please continue writing your stories.

I have been waiting for this book to come to Kindle, as I have read many of the other books but hadn't read the story of how these two came together... I was not disappointed! Sylvia always delivers. This was a sexy, well developed story that brought together many players. Worth the wait!
