This is a great set. It comes in a very sturdy box that closes with a magnet. Inside is a section for the tangram pieces, along with a diagram of how to fit them in. The book is small, but the silhouettes are easy to see. The back of the book holds all the solutions, so if you get stuck, you can easily solve the puzzle. This is a great way to introduce children to tangrams, allowing them to look at the solutions and fit the pieces together. It also helps when you're first starting out to be able to flip to the back and check what you're doing.
The book holds more than the silhouettes. There is also basic information on tangrams and how they work. A section towards the back talks about the more arcane mathematical properties of tangrams, and I frankly admit I didn't understand that part at all but someone who loves math will probably be very happy with that section.
All in all, I cannot recommend tangrams highly enough. They train you to observe in a way that is hard to describe. As the book says, when you learn the language of the tangrams, you will start to see the shapes inside the silhouettes. I have found this is true-after much practice, I am sometimes able to just look at a shape and see exactly how the seven pieces fit into it.
