How customer reviews and ratings work
Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings, help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

I'll come right out and say it - this has always been one of my all time favourite albums, since it came out when I was fifteen. I know every note of every song far too well. So I was very curious to hear this.
To consider the remastered version of the original disc... to be honest, the difference in sound from my previous CD is minimal, you would have to listen quite carefully to notice any improvement. I think the bass sounds clearer and punchier. The well known hits are all there: Big Love, Little Lies, Everywhere, and around them are the equally great tracks that made this album second only to Rumours in the Fleetwood Mac canon.
Backing this up is the second disc with B sides, demos and alternate versions. As with the Rumours and Mirage equivalents, the material is patchy, ranging from "wow!" through to "interestingly different" through to "filler". With most of the alternative versions you will be glad they dropped them in favour of the final cut, although there are some real gems here - the instrumental version of Mystified is just lovely and B-side Down Endless Street is perfect catchy pop. We also find the seeds of Stevie Nicks' next solo project being sown, with Ooh My Love (same lyrics as the finished version but completely different tune) and a rocking version of Juliet which sounds like a drunk Stevie travelled back in time to drop in on the band circa 1972, before the gloss of 80's synthesizers showed up. Speaking of which, the alternate version of Isn't It Midnight is stunningly different - the vocal melody stays the same but the guitars are replaced with keyboards, and the whole chord sequence of the chorus is changed, totally removing the menacing feel of the original and turning it into nightclub fluff.
Overall, a worthwhile purchase if you are interested in the evolution of the songs and something of a completist and already own the original album. If you don't own Tango In The Night at all? Then get it!

This is the third time I've bought this album - cassette, CD and now this two disc expanded edition. It's a classic album that has stood the test of time given the strength of the song writing, Lindsey Buckingham & Richard Dashut's skilful production and not forgetting the stunning vocal arrangements. The deluxe edition was tempting for a couple of minutes but this seemed like much better value for money (I'm sure they'll delight many but endless eighties extended mixes and remixes hold no interest for me).
Surprisingly given that the original production of this album is sonically very clean, the remaster does highlight enough subtle but noticeable differences to make it worthwhile, particularly Buckingham's guitar playing. The volume is slightly louder and the overall sound is clearer. It's probably not worth an upgrade for the re-master alone unless you're an audiophile (a single disc remastered CD has also been released) but the second disc should appeal to fans.
Collecting together three non-album B-sides and 10 previously unreleased demos / alternate versions, the second disc is an interesting listen, nothing more; nothing less except for 'Special Kind of Love' and closing track 'You and I, Part I & II' (Full Version). Previously unreleased 'You and I, Part I' is a jaw-dropping mid-tempo slice of pop that's very different from the Part II it segues into and it's incredible that it was omitted from the original release.
Housed in a double gatefold cardboard sleeve that features four studio portraits of the band, the combined playing time of both discs is a few seconds shy of 99 minutes. The accompanying 16 page booklet features a few archive photos, an essay about the album, credits and the lyrics for the original album tracks. If you decide to let this expanded edition pass you by, I do recommend downloading You And I, Part I & II (Full Version) . Remastered original album: 5 Stars; Second disc: 3 Stars.

VINE VOICE
I love the seventies albums by Fleetwood Mac; Fleetwood Mac, Rumours and Tusk, but the wheels started to come off after that. Although Tango in the Night has some catchy songs on it, I found it disappointing compared to the earlier albums. The direction has changed and it has a very eighties feel, which was a fairly bland decade for music for me. Not bad, but a long way from the dizzy heights of the seventies.
