There's a lot to like about this book. A decent plot, strong willed characters, and the author's usual adept build up of the connection between them. A very promising start to the book.

For me, however, there seemed to be a rush to a conclusion, due, no doubt, to the length of the book. For my personal preference, I would have liked to have had a longer book with the relationship explored in more detail.

That said, this remains an enjoyable read, of novella length.

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

HASH(0x954b8b40) out of 5 stars Beautiful, heart wrenching and hopeful love story! 14 Jan. 2016
By Jennifer @ Battery Operated Book Blog - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Want an absolutely beautifully written Christmas Novella about a Stock Broker escaping the hustle and bustle of the city to his Margaret River Vineyard home in Western Australia to avoid any and all human interaction? Well this one is right up your ally! Poor Kyle, he lost his entire family during the Boxing Day Tsunami a decade ago and has never been able to get past that he's still living when they are not. He escapes to the solitude of his vineyard home every year from Christmas to New Years to avoid interaction with the outside world preferring to find his solace at the bottom of a bottle.

In walks Jordan, the vibrant and beautiful Winemaker living on his property much to his dismay. The two are at war both physically and mentally about whether she should stay or go. Kyle can't keep himself from this woman and Jordan can't figure out why he is hell bent on spending the holiday alone. When the reveal comes out its like a lead balloon hit my square in the chest and the tears started flowing. This poor tough man with his well built wall around himself, blaming himself all these years, never truly living. I've known a few people like this through my life and it never gets easier reading or watching them first hand go through it.

The story is short. It has strong characters who make you want a full length novel written about them. The heat is there sizzling between the characters but the story isn't about that and I appreciated that Nicole didn't muddy the pages of this Christmas Novella with tawdry sex that has no meaning to the overall story. I hope you'll enjoy Tangled Vines as much as I did and look for more amazing stories coming from this very talented Author soon!

Kyle and Jordan meet in an unlikely way thanks to the help of Kyle's assistant. Jordan is the daughter of the caregiver that takes care of Kyle's house while away. Kyle escapes from the big city every year around Christmas, not wanting to be reminded of everything he lost in the Boxing Day Tsunami. He loathes Christmas, and has no desire to celebrate it. So he goes to his house and plans to stay there until the holidays are over. What he doesn't expect is to be housing a guest for the time being. Kyle and Jordan don't necessarily hit it off that great. But you can feel the chemistry between the two of them. I couldn't put this book down, I had to know what happened next, would Kyle be able to move past his tragic past and let someone in. And would Jordan be able to trust a man again? This is a quick read that gives you all the feels of a typical length romance novel, but in a shorter amount of time. I fell in love with these characters, and the authors writing story, and I can't wait to read more from her.
HASH(0x95ad58dc) out of 5 stars Wonderfully sweet read! 21 Dec. 2015
By Lisa - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
For such a short sweet read, this story had a plot and wonderful characters. The trend in some short stories is to go from the initial character meeting, hop them into bed, to the happily ever after at the end, with nothing in the middle, skipping what I would call some of the essential parts. There is not much or very little for character development, no full understanding of emotions and usually leaves me feeling like I’ve been duped out of part of the book. Ms. Flockton managed to stuff everything a story needs into a very nice small package.

While Ms. Flockton didn’t go into great detail about the lives of both characters and their pasts, and some readers might feel cheated about that, she did give wonderful details about who they are now and who they become. Kyle makes you want to both hug him for the pain and loss he went through and then punch him for being such an ass about it now. I love Jordan for her strength and stubbornness in dealing with both Kyle and her own past. These two light up a room with their heat right from the beginning and when they finally give into it, well I’m surprised they didn’t set the house on fire.

This is a quick, sexy read that shouldn’t be missed. So if you need a quick romance fix that’s filled with sexiness, attitude and hope for the future, this is the one for you!
HASH(0x952bee4c) out of 5 stars Sweet romance set in Western Australian Wine region. 28 Dec. 2015
By Fiona - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
This is a novella length romance set in the Margaret River wine region of Western Australia. The hero Kyle has made a practice of avoiding Christmas for the last eleven years. He even bought a run down vineyard at Margaret River, a short drive from Perth, to hide in, along with a good stock of alcohol.

Jordan's father has been care-taking the property and when she comes home after a nasty break up with a fiancé who stole her work, she sees the neglected vineyard as an opportunity. When her father breaks his leg, she has the chance to prove herself. Only she wasn't expecting Kyle to turn up and want her to leave at a crucial stage of the growing grapes.

Jordan and Kyle go head to head as they fight for what they want. The sparks are covering something else, a fierce physical attraction.

This was a lovely little story of letting go of the past and making positive changes for the future. The ending is very sweet.
HASH(0x954fbdc8) out of 5 stars Sweet holiday read 27 Dec. 2015
By Lisa - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Successful businessman Kyle usually spends Christmas alone with no celebrations. Heading to his country getaway, he is ready for another holiday alone, but he doesn't anticipate sharing his house with the fiery and sassy Jordan. Jordan has taken over her father's care-taking position whilst her father recovers from a broken leg. She is there to heal herself as well, after her ex betrayed her. Determined to prove herself, Jordan nurtures vines on Kyle's property back to health. As they grow, Kyle and Jordan's lives become more tangled.

A sweet read, that immerses you in holiday spirit and forgiveness. While Kyle and Jordan spend a lot of time getting on the other's nerves, this is because what they feel for the other scares them. The isolation from the rest of the world provides them with an opportunity to get to know the other completely.
