Asia (love the name) is a woman with a troubled past who seems unable to meet her dream man. Talon is a rock star known for his "reputation" with women, who is fed up with the usual one night stands and disappointments that follow from them.
Both are ready for a new start and become willing guinea pigs for a social experiment. They agree to marry without meeting first... it's a modern "arranged marriage" come science experiment. The idea is funny and interesting. Trademark to the previous book I read, Storm, the attraction at first is non-existent, but as they get to know each other sparks fly - sizzling in some parts!
But, the story, which has an unexpected twist, and writing is fantastic and I got drawn into this world SO easily!
I would personally LOVE to see the whole Ambers & Ashes series as a TV series and hope someone takes note. It's time for a new kid on the block - move aside vampires, open the doors to rock stars! As far as I know it has never been done and I think its time for stereotypes to be cast aside.
Another fantastic novel - a MUST read in my books. But, take note this is for 18+ only due to the sexual nature and swearing! (I might add that even though I hate swearing in this case it makes the main character, Talon, cute & funny at times - weird, I know!)
Girl can't find a nice boy: boy can't find a nice girl.
A fairy godmother in the form of an experiment.
They're complete opposites...
Can they find true love when they see each other for the first time on their wedding day?
I really enjoyed it. The characters, Talon and Asia, were funny and well written, you could see where they were both coming from and, of course where they were heading. The journey though, not so much. There's a surprising turn near the end for Talon which will affect future stories of the band.
It's a five star.
There were a few things that were brought up in the beginning of the story that weren't followed through to the end and I wanted to know about them, but in reality they didn't affect the flow.
Contains some sex scenes.
Carian Cole has the ability to write a story that is fresh and unique; the subjects that she chooses to write about are not ones that are run of the mill in any way, shape or form. Sure they follow the pre-requisite path that a romance novel normally does but Carian injects her own style and subject that makes for a very good reading experience. You feel like you are reading something that hasn’t necessarily been written before. For me personally I find this whole series quite breath taking, I always finish one book with eager anticipation of the next. I was most definitely geared up for this one since hearing about it. I have trouble finding a five star read that suits my palate often; Talon is just that for me. I really liked the story very much.
I liked that the book is based on a social experiment and what came of it in the end. It was really interesting to see how two extremely different characters found things in each other. I mean Talon and Asia would never in a month of Sundays ever be together through choice due to their circumstances but somehow they rise above their social/familial differences and find something in each other. I found Talon to be a bit of a bugger at times and he frustrated me no end but ultimately his heart was so in the right place. Asia’s character was quite beautiful in a much understated way.
The story line pitches and pulls throughout the whole book and it becomes a bit of a rollercoaster that both the reader and the character ride. I felt the outcome was great for this. It needed to happen the way that it did in order for them both to realise exactly what it was that they had found despite being thrust together.Read more ›
This book is truly amazing.
Between the characters who have so much depth and personality that they feel real and a story with surprising twists and a perfect balance of heart-warming, heart-wrenching and sexy, I couldn't get enough.
The plot was original and fun.
Talon and Asia meet on their wedding day, partaking in a social experiment.
Suddenly, the poor girl with no family and no money is married to a rich, famous rockstar.
They are definitely not what the other expected, so their marriage is off to a rocky start.
At least until they realize that what they want is not so different and that what they thought was right for them, might've been completely wrong.
Still, a marriage is no walk in the park on a good day. Being married to a complete stranger who is also the opposite of you has the potential for a catastrophe.
Yes, Asia and Talon have to make their way through it. Good for us because it is amazing to witness how they maneuver the ups and downs, the bumps and detours.
Asia is small, but her size is no indication to her ferocity. She's had it rough but she has always made it through, always kept going.
Her biggest wish is to find love and to have a family. To have people who love her and who are there for her. It's part of the reason she's agreed to the experiment, yet she can't see how Talon is supposed to be that person.
I adored Asia. Not only is she a fighter, but despite all the crap that life has thrown her way, she's sweet, caring and downright adorable.Read more ›
