Billionaire Rules - Emerald and Diamond are twins who have been brought up by Pop, after their parents died in gunfire when they were children. The twins have new identities to protect them and their policeman father's partner as surrogate parent to bring them up. When they are involved in an accident Pop is wheelchair bound with a shot at recovery only with experimental and expensive surgery. That's when Emerald, or Esme as she is now known decides to take up MMA fights to make up the surgery money. When Graham sees ER Jones the female MMA fighter in action, he is drawn to her enough to want to break many of his own self imposed rules. The story has depth, the description of the underbelly of LA is very good, and the characters themselves seldom disappoint. Another great read from master story crafter Mel Curtis.
Fighting Downforce - The last thing Alexis Robles expects when she returns from her annual holiday is to find her one night stand at her workplace. Noah Spencer may have not known who she was when they play acted as Princess Belle and Prince Adam, but he was extremely pleased to know that she was in charge of the stock car racing company that he wanted to invest in. He's got his work cut out trying to convince Alexis that he can be a decent driver for the second team that he wants her company to set up. So he's not exactly pushing for the something more that he wants from her on a personal level. The two of them do need to work well together for the team to have any chance at salvation. Its a nice take on a contemporary romance and the characters do not act over the top or dramatic. The situations are all totally believable and yes the too much tabloid does make you feel sorry for her.
I received a copy of both stories for an honest opinion.
In Billion Dollar Smile you have Samantha who has given up a lot in life to help her younger brother have a better life. She wins a contest that offers her a chance to live in the life a billionaire Miles Covington. Little did she know how this contest was going to change her life. She will be faced with some choice that can hurt other people she cares about and bruise her tender heart.
Miles Covington looks to have been born with a silver spoon in his mouth but looks can be deceiving. He keeps his personal life very private and his business life to a minimum. He has been hurt in the past and trust no one but a handful of people. Can he let down his guard enough to welcome others into his life?
When these two meet attractions is strong but the personality sparks are electric. Can these two make peace long enough to get to know each other?
Graham Richmond had rules, rules that he lived by and did his business by. No one could ever accuse him of being anything like his father. He didn't do anything in excess, not food, drink, women, or gambling. He was in Los Angeles to do one thing and one thing only and that was to buy back the propriety that is father lost ten years ago gambling in a card game.
Esme had left her old life behind fourteen years ago when she and her sister survived an attack that had killed their mother. All that she had kept from her past as far as her identity was concerned was when she was in the ring fighting she used the name E.R. She worked and played in situations where she was never the victim again.
Meeting Graham was by accident and he had way too many rules. Rules that she intended on having him break because sometimes life wasn't always just black or white, but a lot of gray.
In Fighting Downforce Noah and Alexis meet each other and have a one night stand. They only know each other as Princess Belle and Prince Adam from Beauty and the Beast. Taken aback Alexis is surprised to see him at the track and finding out that Noah Spencer is a billionaire that is not only interested in financially backing her drivers, but also driving himself. She was trying to figure out how she could keep their personal relationship separate from their working relationship when the media gets a hold for the information and everything spins out of control.
I'm definitely looking forward to reading more of the stories in this collection if these stories are the example of what to expect.
I was given an ARC for an honest review. All conclusions are mine and mine alone.
>I am an independent reviewer. This is a standalone book and ends in an HEA.
>Samantha is a young woman struggling with money. Her brother has a cleft lip and needs expensive surgery to help his self esteem. Sam wins a contest to shadow a billionaire and is immediately contacted by a newspaper looking for inside information on Miles. The paper forwards her money she really needs in order to get her to agree. The interaction between Sam and Miles is interesting. Miles is very withdrawn and unapproachable at first. As Sam learns more about him, she sees the loving person he really is.
>I would have loved to get into Miles head. What was his first impression of Samantha? How confident is he with women? These are questions I had as I watched Miles go from acting cold and unfeeling to generous and loving. The story is short, so the relationship felt a bit fast. I would have liked a scene with Sam's brother meeting Miles.
>Sam's integrity was refreshing to see. She actually makes a list of the money Miles gives her, so she can pay him back. These two characters were real and the story wasn't unbelievable. I enjoyed escaping into the story.
>This story is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving the story 5 stars.
