These were bought from a third-party seller and it must be said items arrived exactly as described. Considering the box set is/was 30+ years old, it's in beautiful shape, so no complaints there. International shipping was an issue, and I ended up spending twice as much to actually receive the books (they had to be shipped domestically within the US and then UPSed to me here in Hong Kong) as they actually cost, so be aware. Also, they are reprints of vintage horror comics, but the reprints are in black and white, which wasn't mentioned. No fault of the seller, but it was a surprise.
Whether you collected the comics as a kid or only learned about them through the reprints or the HBO series, if you enjoy EC comics, you must have this book. It is the defitive piece on the entire history of EC, from Bill Gaines' early days to the founding of the now famous horror and sci-fi line, the juvenile deliquency hearings that caused these gems to stop being printed, on to the reprints, the TV series and the movies. Each area is covered in loving detail, meticulously researched, and the book is overflowing with color photos. It also includes a complete collection of every horror comic cover and a chronological listing of every "Tales" episode, complete with synopsis, vital info and a picture from each one. This is a book anyone can enjoy; if you aren't familiar with the world of EC, this book would be a great introduction. Once you get into it, you'll be hooked for life!
