Product Description

Review

"Nicely updated version of Potter's charming tale." --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

About the Author

Beatrix Potter is regarded as one of the world's best-loved children's authors of all time. From her first book, The Tale of Peter Rabbit, published by Frederick Warne in 1902, she went on to create a series of stories based around animal characters including Mrs. Tiggy-winkle, Benjamin Bunny, Jemima Puddle-duck, Mr. Jeremy Fisher and Tom Kitten. Her humorous, lively tales and beautiful illustrations have become a natural part of childhood.

My son (aged almost 7) was given a copy of Peter Rabbit at School to read for homework. I was appalled by this - a "modernised" version with poorly written text and inferior pictures and resolved to get a proper version. This is almost it - the only change from the original was the addition of one or two extra illustrations which were originally supplied, but which were for various reasons left out. Young Dylan thought it was great - praise indeed from a very critical young man. The book arrived promptly and was well-packed. If you've never read Peter Rabbit; well your education has been neglected - read it now, and chuckle. And for children able to read, the large legible type and whimsical illustrations are a joy and the hard cover will ensure longevity. At this price, an excellent buy.

Lovely version of The Tale of Peter Rabbit. I don't like the current trend of modernising Beatrix Potter stories. For me the original will always be the best and as far as I can tell this version is almost exactly as I remember it. I prefer the way the book is formatted for Kindle rather than the way it looks on a tablet. It's purely a personal opinion. It's set out like a real book on a smaller screen and the pages and (gorgeous) illustrations seem better organised in a compacted format. A slice of my childhood and one I'm always happy to revisit.

This version of the book is very small. I suppose if you have older children that won't be a problem but if you have a baby or toddler that wants to join in and look at the pictures you'll have difficulty due to its size. Otherwise great quality.

Having read this book a thousand times to my son I have bought a new copy to read to my 2 year old grandson, it's wonderful to hear him fill in the names of the characters names when I pause, just the same as 30 years ago. Delightful book.

The children like this story. I love it though. When I read it aloud I hear my own parents' voices in my head and I follow the same metre and modulation that I remember from my own childhood. Why do I love it so? inly, the use of language still tingles. In these days of measured calculation in education, no one would dare write a book for pre-schoolers featuring the word "soporific" Hooray.
