What I particularly liked about this book is that it is Biblical, so whatever Liz says is backed up by Scripture. She asks thought-provoking questions which are a great way for the reader to grow in their own personal journey with God.
I went through this book on my own, I found it was easy to relate to and very encouraging. Whilst it was good to go through alone, I believe there are even more benefits to be gained from working through it in a small group. At the end of the book are extra notes for the discussion questions which is a helpful resource for the one leading the group. In a group, we are able to learn from each other as we discuss together. It gives us insight into each others' lives and fosters support and encouragement for one another. This is especially important as the sessions may bring up something painful for the individual, but there is healing to be received as issues are worked through with God and with others.
I think this book will appeal more to women, although there is no reason why men should not also read it. I think young girls in a youth group would also be blessed by it, especially as it addresses such issues as knowing how God sees you rather than finding your identity in how others' see you. A big issue for all of us, and particularly for girls in their teenage years.
This book is good for anyone, no matter what stage they are at in their Christian journey. I believe it would also work with anyone who may be searching for the truth and who are open to God.
to explore Isaiah 61 and the carefully chosen verses are a perfect way to focus study of this classic story. Having read the story as a child and seen the Disney cartoon version, focusing this study on the beautifully made live action film version released in 2017 created a perfect opportunity to explore the theme of redemption and its implications for me as a Christian. Thank you Liz - I would probably never have considered watching this movie, but ‘A Tale of Beauty from Ashes’ brought me to the film and to a better understanding of myself and my faith.
I used it both for individual study as well as following it in my Home Group.
As a relatively new Christian the opportunity to study and better understand the bible verses was really welcomed. Whilst the questions often made me reflect deeply on my life, motivations and identity, it did so in a ‘gentle’ unthreatening way which makes the material accessible to all.and the sessions
