What Christian did at the beginning of the book was a betrayal of the worst kind, but OMG he paid for his sins. And MAN did he pay. Over and over and over. I really did sympathise with Elizabeth the first half of the book but by the time I got near the end that woman had got On. My. Last. Nerve. Yep, The. Last. One!! GAH I wanted to slap her upside the head so many times!! Yes she had a crap time when Christian gave her the ultimatum, but what she seemed to conveniently forget is it took TWO to tango. Not once did she bear any blame for the circumstances she found herself in.
"I know I did Elizabeth, but I can't take it back. God knows, I wish I could, but I abandoned you and there's nothing I can ever do to change that"
Christian lived with guilt that should have crippled him. But it was not only his guilt to bear.
The fact Elizabeth got to me SO bad that I had palpitations says what an awesome book this is. And in spite of this he adored both Elizabeth and Lizzie.
Yes I was angry with her the second half of the book but there was also beautiful, tender moments that had me smiling and really feeling good about life. Lizzie ..... such a beautiful child, inside and out. The love she had for those around her
"You're the best daddy"
And what had me sobbing
"Please stay with me Daddy".
OMG this book tore my heart in two, stomped on it and thankfully put it all back together again.
An amazing book that had me glued from the first page to the last. Awesome, awesome read.
I don't normally give 5 stars but this is a gem of a book. If you like a nice love story with betrayal and compassion then this is it! Top marks to the author!
It continues the story of Christian and Elizabeth as they try to get used to the relationship which has developed from friendship. The story begins with this relationship doing really well, but find it ripped apart so suddenly.
I knew nothing about this story before reading it and expected it to follow the same kind of lines as Love To You, in a way it does but the way it starts surprised me, I wasn't expecting it.
The author again uses dual POV's which allows the reader to know exactly what is going on in both Christian and Elizabeth's mind. I like the fact the author does this as it leaves us in no doubt at all as to what each of the characters are feeling/thinking.
The characters again struggle with their feelings throughout the book. Mistakes have been made, feelings have been shattered. They share a common bond, can that help to bring them together again or is this bond one which will pull them apart forever?
These two are destined to be together but they struggle with their feelings of betrayal. Can they get through the barriers and be happy together again?
I am glad I read Love To You first as it told the story of how Christian and Elizabeth first met, and why it took them a while to get together. It made it easier to understand the decisions both of them made in this book. I loved it.
THIS IS NOT A ROMANCE BUT A TRAGIC STORY OF A MAN WHO ABANDONED HIS OWN CHILD FOR HIS OWN SELFISH REASONS! This story is of a child not to be wanted and a man who did not want to face his own mistakes, who did nothing and could have done nothing still, just because he was moved to work by his father' law-firm to the town where heroin and his child were living, he had some thoughts over it!
Christian: I could not warm up to him, even though the author was trying to make him redeemable. I felt his effort to change was forced... the attempt was not by any means sincere and empathic and the author did not succeeded by convincing me THAT CHRISTIAN REALLY WORKED HARD TO FIX HIS MISTAKES AND REUNITE WITH HIS CHILD AND A LOVE OF HIS LIFE ELISABETH! When he found out she was pregnant he wanted her to have an abortion or she must choose between him or to keep the baby, but without him... so how come he loved her then, if he even did not try to find a way and still support her...is that what they saying love is for good and bad????? Elisabeth decided to keep the baby and I respect her, but guess what he did???? whist she was pregnant he did nothing...apart from drinking and sleeping with other women and that was like A SLAP ON MY FACE!!! Were was his love for her????? in between another women's legs???? She was pregnant and sick and he was having a good time!!!Read more ›
