Great album. First time listener of Ym@6 and they didnt disappoint.
Track by track;

The truth is a terrible thing-6/10- I dont think this is the worst song on the album and is a good choice for the opener to this album.

Gossip-7/10- Very catchy song, makes you want to dance/slash head band...whatever you prefer.

Call that a comeback-8/10- All round very good song, nicely wedge in between two very good songs.

Jealous minds think alike-10/10- For me this and "save it for the bedroom" are my favourites, very catchy and bouncy.

Save it for the bedroom-10/10- Again another 10 for a song on this album, very catchy like before and will get you singing along.

Take off your colours-6/10- This just gets a bit repetitive.

You've made your bed-9/10- Love this song, love the emotion josh puts in when he says "but never call me again, almost like you can see him gritting his teeth as he sings.

If you run-8/10- Quite heavy, the heaviest on this album but doesn't change from his great voice and catchyness again.

Tigers and sharks-7/10- Another catchy song that is quite emotional..
If I were in your shoes-8/10- Love this song, again another catchy song that will get you bouncing and singing alone

Always attract- 9/10- Featuring Josh's sister this 6 minute song is both beautiful and brilliant. Beautiful lyrics

Nasty habits-5/10- My least favourite song on the album and the only one i dont know all the words too :)

The rumour-8/10- I love this song, i can really see everyones hands swaying in the air at live shows and everyone singing along. Very good ending to a very very good album

I had never listened to You Me At Six before I got this album, so it was a pleasant surprise for me!

"Take Off Your Colours" is filled with catchy rhythms and typical "teen-angst" lyrics, but don't be put off if you like more "mature" music! Although this seems to me to be aimed at the teen listener, there are also slower, more melancholy songs which help to balance out the album.

Highlights of the album for me are "If You Run" and the 6-minute tour-de-force that is "Always Attract". Even so, there is something on this album to appeal to everyone.

I would recommend this album to anyone, but particularly people who like good guitar and rythms in their music and are less bothered by ultra-meaningful lyrics. Happy listening!

I have listened to YMA6 for quite a while now, and was quite excited to hear the debut album as the quality of the old tracks were quite poor as the bitrate was quite low.

The album has a few new tracks which are excellent and compliment the old ones, but the old favourites such as "Gossip", "Save It For The Bedroom", "You've Made You're Bed" and "The Rumour" have been completely ruined in their re-recordings!

Dont get me wrong they are not completely rubbish because the instruments are still spot on, but the expressions in the vocals have been changed slightly, and it just doesnt sound right.

If you are already a You Me At Six fan, then you will probably give this a 4/5 like me, but if you are a first time listener then this will most likely be a 5 star for you as this band have produced some quality, original stuff here.

I have been a fan of the band since they started out and was really looking forward to the album. On the whole the album is very good, but with the removal of a couple of tracks it could have been a 5 star album

Track by track:

The truth is a terrible thing - probably the worst song. Sounds quite generic and predictable. Shouldn't have been on the album.
4/10
Gossip - good catchy song with a very good chorus, not as good as the original recording though.
7/10
Call that a comeback - good opening riff and rhythm to the song, good harmonies, all aspects good.
8/10
Jealous minds think alike - 1st single, good changes of tempo, catchy, dynamic good melodies.
9/10
Save it for the bedroom - Very good song, upbeat with a great feel to it, but re recording is very poor compared to original.
7/10
Take off your colours - Not a bad song, but for the title song it doesn't live up to expectation. Too repetitive sounding, but does have a good vocal harmony at the end.
5/10
You've made your bed - Excellent song, beautiful melody and excellent chorus. Very good vocal harmonies and "woah's". Original B side to SIFTB was better, but this is still excellent.
10/10
If you run - Pretty damm heavy for YMA6 and is excellent. Powerful opening, catchy verses, really well sung and has a superb aggressive breakdown.
9/10
Tigers and sharks - beautiful melody to it which makes the song. A really reflective emotional song - the one everyone will be swaying to at live shows.
9/10
If I were in your shoes - A proper rock song, cool guitar riffs in the verses and a really good guitar solo. This is a really impressive song.
