From the Back Cover

"There was something about the way she touched me that made it clear she was touching the body I felt I had rather than the one I actually had. Oh, my god, her hands felt so good." --from "The Perfect Gentleman" by Andrea Zanin
In mainstream media, the erotic identities, sex lives and fantasies of transgender and genderqueer people are often oversimplified, sensationalized or invisible. "Take Me There" is an erotic collection unlike any other, celebrating the pleasure, heat and diversity of transgender and genderqueer sexualities. These stories will take you from San Francisco to Israel, from heartache to lust, from ballet shoes to a bondage table, from M to F and F to M--and in between and beyond. Featuring renowned authors Kate Bornstein, Patrick Califia, S. Bear Bergman, Ivan Coyote, Julia Serano, Laura Antoniou, Helen Boyd, Rachel Kramer Bussel, Sinclair Sexsmith and more.

I bought this one that was recommended to me and enjoyed it on several levels. As a queer gender person, finding satisfying erotica that isn't hetero-centric and cis-centric can be a challenge... probably why I write my own, because of the gap is frustrating. I digress, the short stories are sometimes very short, a single page; others go on for many pages. I enjoyed them all, with the gender variant characters and sexually ambiguity some of them presented providing me with mental stimulation.

Is there a volume 2? :)

Couldn't stop reading this! The stories are extremely personal and touching, and also hot and sexy. I enjoyed the challenge the book gives, reading of different kinds of people in different combinations.

HASH(0x89015c5c) out of 5 stars Absolutely amazing. Beautifully breathtaking. Compellingly creative. Deliciously diverse. 18 Oct. 2011
By Sally Bend - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
On a list of my top 10 reads for the year, Tristan is looking down upon her peers from a very high perch indeed!

As she states in her introduction, this is a collection of "erotica by, for and about transfolk, FTMs, MTFs, genderqueers, gender outlaws, as well as two-spirit, intersex, and gender-variant people." Almost immediately, you notice these are stories where gender (in all its forms) is almost taken for granted, without the `surprise confession' or `shocking reveal' common to mainstream erotica/porn, and without the arbitrary focus on simply passing or being acknowledged. This is a collection where trans lovers can feel intimately and comfortably at home amidst stories of being treasured, loved, desired, and adored.

Considering the wide variety of authors, genders, and subjects explored, I'm pleased to say there's not a single story here that didn't, on some level, resonate with me. Indeed, they are all wonderful, but there were certainly some stand-outs that I must call attention to: "The Therapist and the Whore" by Giselle Renarde, "Shoes Are Meant to Get You Somewhere" by Dean Scarborough, "Taking the Toll" by Kiki DeLovely, "Dixie Belle" by Kate Bornstein, "The Visible Woman" by Rachel K. Zall, "Canadian Slim" by Shawna Virago, "Self-Reflection" by Tobi Hill-Meyer, and "Face Pack" by Penelope Mansfield.

Not only are the stories contained here erotic, imaginative, and exciting, but they are also beautifully written. As Tristan asks in her introduction, "our language is severely limited when it comes to describing the bodies of transpeople," and there is a significant challenge in writing stories that are both erotic and respectful. Fortunately, the authors here have the words to do so, and the talent to use those words well.

Take Me There indeed! I just hope, somewhere down the line, Tristan chooses to take us there again.

Yet another great collection from Tristan Taormino. She is skilled at seeking out and putting together a series of stories that have their own point of view, there own sexy take on things, but that all work together to build up to a, well, climactic reading experience.

This book is HOT!!! I loved reading a book of erotica about people with bodies like mine. I am a bisexual trans man. I loved Pat Califia's story about a bear & a trans man coming together and other stories, too. As a trans man, I have my own language to describe my body & I loved reading what other people call their bodies. Many of the stories are very well written & cover a broad spectrum of the trans & genderqueer people.

HASH(0x89197444) out of 5 stars Very Good Book 19 Jan. 2012
By Ainan - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I don't read too much erotica I must be honest, most of it just seems too "gender-normative" for my tastes. But I do consider myself "unlabeled" I guess I would say, and this book is nice!

This book is pretty stellar, in scope, topics, and um... erotic tales. I'm not sure why I decided on 4 stars, but it just didn't seem to spark enough out of me for 5. I did like the book, and found it incredibly well written, but for me I guess I was hoping it would push the gender envelope a little more. I think what it was, was that I found some of the pieces from some authors to be exquisite, while some of the others to be merely "okay." But I guess there's something in there for everyone so that's a good thing.

I guess I was also kind of disappointed that there was alot of talk about dildos and penetration and in some (not all stories of course) the focus seemed to be on "passing" or at least semi-subscribing to gender norms in order to have hot sex. If that's you, that's awesome, but it doesn't resonate with me as much. Don't get me wrong, I'm far from a prude or sensitive about sexual writings, but I do feel like some of the stories needed a bit more to them to really push gender to the next level and make gender non-conformity a bit sexier. This is just my personal opinion. But I really did like the book, and for me it's a step in the right direction and was quite hot indeed. So I do recommend you read it : )

HASH(0x891f2108) out of 5 stars Unique book of erotica for the gender-variant community 25 Mar. 2013

Here's a book that we need more of, something that shows that gender variant people are real human beings and have sex just like everyone else (or rather, sex that's different yet similar). More please!
