My son liked this straightaway. Coco is very sweet, wanting a walk and getting overexcited (a lot like a cooped up toddler!), finding her family are all busy and distracted. So messes are made but eventually the whole family decide to go out together and enjoy the world.

Nice moral really - to do things together, to get outside. It may seem a little old fashioned - daughter playing with blocks, father with the newspaper, mother cooking and son watching tv, but I prefer that to everyone on a mobile phone or computer!

It's well illustrated as well and we enjoyed the challenge of going back over every page looking for the hidden bones. One or two eluded us but we've found them now if anyone needs any hints :)

Good characters and possibilities for a whole series. Best for one child at bedtime unless you've got a large copy for several or a class.

Do you have a dog or cat in your family? Do you have any responsibility for the dog or cat?

The author, Lynne Dempsey, has written a fun and informative book about such a nice little dog. The cute little white dog belonged in a family that was very busy. Everyone seemed to love him, but no one was listening to him. The dog went into the kitchen and gave a short bark, he needed to go out. Mom heard him but was busy, she yelked, 'Someone take the dog out'. No one came, so the dog went to the next person, the little boy and then the little girl, dad, and then grandmother. Everyone was too busy. When you read this book you will discover what happened.

Parents and teachers will enjoy reading this book to their children. Everyone in the family can probably identify with each person. This is such a busy world, but if we want a pet, we must learn to take some responsibility for our animals. The illustrations are bright, vivid and colorful. They depict the adventures of the dog and his family. Note: a complimentary copy of this book was provided to read and review.

'Take the Dog Out!' written by Lynne Dempsey and illustrated by Mandy Newham-Cobb is the funny children book that brings story about one lovely puppy that desperately wants to go for a walk.

In this children book full of humor everyone in family is too busy to take their small dog for a walk. Therefore, their cute dog will make all kinds of mischief to persuade family members to take him outside - he will bark, splash coffee on the carpet, get Grandpa wrapped in the toilet paper and some others pranks. And eventually he will succeed...

Lynne Dempsey wrote a funny and instructive story while Mandy Newham-Cobb's digital illustrations are nice and full of humor - the result is book that teaches how important is to take care of your pet needs, even if we sometimes need to do things that we are not very happy about or don't have enough time.

But it also managed to show how much our commitment will be appreciated by our little animal friends.

A lethal combination of simple but really focussed storyline with brilliant illustrations. As a cartoonist and author myself I really appreciate how good this children's storybook is and I think Lynne Dempsey will be making a big impression on the children's book market in the future.

The granddaughters (5yrs & 7yrs) loved this as a bedtime story ... it's short, can be read, then read again straight after! ... and they loved searching for the bones!
