Not getting Bogged down in who actually made this game (THQ or 2k) the game has not moved on from previous years versions. The franchise has not produced a decent game since Smackdown vs Raw 2007. If you like wrestling (actually watching the matches) this game does not replicate that experience. The gameplay feels like a cheap arcade game reminiscent of Acclaims WWF in your house released in 1996.

The game is crammed with "legends" and modes that replicate old events, this is fine for me as I am old enough to remember King Kong Bundy; but if you are in your early twenties or younger your earliest memories are going to be the tail end of the attitude era (if your parents let you watch the attitude era). What is the point in replicating events which pre date your demographic. Most gamers would have no clue who the million dollar man is or have living memory of Bret Hart or the ultimate warrior being relevant. I would give this game a 4 out of 10 because after 1 day of playing, I'm already bored.

Very good game, I particularly like the 30 years of Wrestlemania new mode. The game has a big and strong roster and the new creation features in it are cool. It's the first game I've bought since SVR 2011 and this game is so far the best WWE game out there.

The only thing I don't like is the annoying reversals, it's always too slow or too fast and the opposite player COM always seems to reverse easy.

Apart from that, WWE 2k14 is a must buy for all WWE fans...

When comparing this game to WWE13 it has improved on its previous games faults.

However sadly there still is the odd glitches. The first match I played Dean Ambrose got stuck in the stairs! Also the glitch with entrance music is a little annoying. Handling the character though has improved and it is harder to kick out or make someone tap out which is a massive improvement on the last game.

Mind the 30 years of Wrestlemania mode was awesome in my opinion. Being able to play through classic matches of previous Wrestlemanias was great both for nostalgia and gameplay (also liked the filters used for the older Wrestlemanias to make it look like it was on an old school tv). Also gotta love Steak mode.

Player customization is where it is for a while, still good, no need to change it.

Universe mode is still good, but if you want to use a customized character in it, I would recommend turning off auto rivalries. Seriously my character debuted so many times it got old really fast, also because of it, apparently my character was never eligible for a title opportunity!

What I would like to see come back:

Earning your character stats - too easy to give your guy top stats and then dominate the game
During hardcore/anywhere falls matches being able to drag opponents through the crowd and backstage - loved that in WWF No Mercy (BRING IT BACK ALREADY!)
Proper custom belts - being able to make a belt with as much freedom as you do when you make a character
Universe mode could be more like the season mode from WWE Raw

Anyway that's my review, hoped you like.

Lots of things to do in this game including 30 years of Wrestlemania, Universe mode, multiplayer mode, create a story, super star, arena & play with the most complete roster ever. Community creations my favorite part of the game where you can download created versions of any wrestlers that weren't included in the game and some great stories. Only things that i don't like so much is the reversals, limited number of stories to download (max 8) and the fact that you need xbox live to use community creations when before you only needed silver. The reversals stop you from dominating matches like you would in previous games like reversing everything but now the COM will fight back aggresively at times which is much more realistic and challenging, guess tho this will annoy a few of people. It would have been nice if more stories can be downloaded but universe mode can suffice for this as you can create rivalry matches such as WCW inavasions etc. Other than that its clear to see even after the release of 2K15 that 2k14 is still very popular to those who aren't yet upgrading to next gen, so if like me you aren't planning on upgrading to next gen until later on, get WWE 2k14 for 360 instead of 2k15.

Wow! I ordered this as a cheap Christmas present to myself when I found that the 2K15 version was too expensive to warrant. This is a 'full-fat' version of the WWE wrestling game genre that should not disappoint fans with long memories. This is because the main mode is centered around '30 years of Wrestlemania' and mostly delivers on its promises. There are all 30 Wrestlemania liveries available once this mode is completed and really adds to the great nostalgia feeling; nothing beats doing a Superkick outdoors in Ceasars Palace! The mechanics of the gameplay are a little simplified compared to some previous releases but this works for the title and eases you in at a reasonable pace. Once the basics are learnt it's easy to get the rest nailed down.

The animation is smooth (much more than I was expecting) and most things worked exactly as I wanted them too. There are a few modes that still suck a little (ladder match) - but I would be disappointed if they weren't included as at least the first ten minutes are fun!

If you are an old school WWE / WWF fan then this game does a great service to your memories - it's worth a punt.
