About the Author

Anita Canter (neé Sverdlin) was born in Copenhagen in 1940. She first came to England as an au pair girl, later qualifying in Denmark as a kindergarten teacher. Whilst at college she read out her stories for children on Danish Radio. She worked as a nursery teacher in London before marrying and moving to Liverpool in 1964. Anita lived in Israel from 1986 to 1989, where she taught English, worked with Holocaust survivors and was active in the Peace Movement. She is currently working as a psychotherapist in Liverpool and running courses in Adlerian Psychology and Inner Child Work. She is married to lawyer Philip Canter and has two children and six grandchildren.
