I'm fairly new to Tai Chi, learning my way through the Cheng Man-ch'ing short form at classes. I'm delighted with this DVD. The video coverage of the different postures is first rate, as are Angus Clark's explanations. I'm finding it very useful in helping me to pick up on points that I've missed or misunderstood in class (easy to do when you're trying to follow a teacher and just make it through something new without making a total mess). Inevitably there are the odd, minor differences between the postures as played by Mr Clark and as taught in my class - but even that's useful; I'm finding that thinking about the differences is often informative in itself. I definitely feel that I better understand the postures I'm being taught; I suspect that the way I play them is improving faster by consequence; and I know that it's adding to my enjoyment of the whole experience. Well worth the money I spent.

(And whilst there's undoubtedly no substitute for a good teacher to pick up on your faults, explain what the different moves are and why you're doing them, and ultimately help you move beyond rote imitation - I'm sure that, yes, you could learn to do quite a good approximation to the form from this DVD.)

This is a quality product. Angus Clark's dvd is the best I have seen so far. It is well produced with clarity of picture and sound. In the instruction dvd he takes you through the different postures almost like in a class. He uses slow motion when necessary. One small dislike is the music on the c.d.
All in all a definite must have for the beginner.

A very complete instruction DVD. Shown from different angles with some picture in picture in places too, you can really see how your hand movement should be in relation to the footwork for each move. Definitely a must for refining moves and postures.

You really can learn to do the tai chi short form from this. The verbal instructions over the moving pictures are very clear and the breaking down of the form into its constituent parts makes it easy to find what you want to practice.

This guy is simply a great teacher - he is clear, calm and effective. The background music is either non-existent or very low, soothing and non-intrusive. The camera angles are superb and I especially like how he shows moves repeatedly from front, back and side positions so that you can clearly visualise what you need to do in your mind. There are many others out there who are probably great exponents of the art but not as good as teaching as he is. A great buy!

I found tai chi class difficult - but with this DVD I could return again and again til I got it right. The teaching method is crystal clear, and after a few lessons at my own speed, I feel relaxed and refreshed rather than frustrated.

This is a holiday gift for my husband. He asked for it specifically and has done A LOT of research on the best tools for him to learn Tai Chi. I can't reveiw it beyond saying that I hope it meets his expectations but I do know he likes the way Clark presents each move very analytically.

Angus has a wonderful practice and this is reflected in his DVD, which is a great training tool. Since purchasing the DVD I have also arranged private tuition with angus which was also incredibly helpful with my practice. Can't recommend highly enough
