Solid keyboard with unsual layout.

I wanted to get a mechanical keyboard and was debating between this, the steelseries 6gv2 and the blackwidow, ended up choosing this thanks to its competitive price.

Pros : The keyboard is very sturdy, and feels quite solid. Typing on the keyboard feels pretty smooth, and has a good tactile feedback when you type, as expected from mechanical keyboard. The sound it produces when typing is rather low, as far as mechanical keyboards are concerned. There is still that clicky clack sound but its not going to deafen anymore and annoy your roomate.

Cons: This keyboard is the lite version of the MEKA G1 keyboard, which is about 20£ more expensive. The main different lies in the layout, as you can see from the picture, the arrow keys are moved and the Ins/Del/Home/End/PgUp/PgDn are gone. As first I did not see this being a big problem when I ordered, as I was mainly concerned with the arrow keys. However it is now apparent that I find myself missing the extra 6 keys. As a programmer, I do use a lot of Ctrl Home/End, Ctrl arrow keys ..etc and now find myself pausing at akward moments when typing. I suspect I would eventually get used to it but atm it is quite jarring how much you miss those 6 keys until they are gone.

The other issue is the left Shift key, it is the size of a normal alphabet key, which is rather unsual for me as I am used to the Shift key being a bit easier to hit. Not such a big deal as I will get used to it but its another change I have to deal with. In addition my right Shift key is actually / and my / is my right Shift. I suspect this is a case of mislabling as the / is the size of 2 buttons, not some build defect. The lack of wrist rest does not help its case either.

I realize that the cons section is quite lengthy but its really a matter of getting used to the new layout. If you plan to use this keyboard for any heavy typing work, you might want to consider another with a more traditional layout or fork out the extra for the G1 version. If gaming is what you will be using it for, you will find a good build quality mechanical at a very competitive price. For gamers, not typers.
