As with all Powerlines the effectiveness can be affected by equipment used on the circuits.The BT TV YouView internet connection is working so the units are doing their job.
Firstly, I'm going to start by telling you the negative point. Yes that's right I've only got one. There is no pass through plug. So with this you do lose the use of your plug. So keep that in mind when you are thinking about purchasing this. I knew this before I bought it so it doesn't really bother me, it's just something to keep in mind.
Apart from that, this product works great. It literally is plug and play. It comes nicely packaged in a small box, with two 1.5m Ethernet cables, and of course the two adapters. Basically you plug one in near your router, connecting an ethernet cable between it and your router, and the other in the room of your choice. Connecting the Ethernet cable between it and your PC, Tv, PS3, PS4, Xbox, DVD player...basically anything that needs an Internet connection. It works. In five minutes I had a solid connection to my room upstairs, giving me download speeds of over 10.00Mbps, which for where I live is really good. Speeds will vary depending on your Internet connection from your provider.
Also comes with LED indicator lights to let you know if it's all connected and working properly.
Green = Best connection
Amber = Better connection
Red = Good connection.
Mine varies between Green and Amber so it just shows you how far away it can be and still gets a great connection. I'm a good 20m or more away from the router if I was to walk to it.Read more ›
When I connected one of them to a socket in an extension lead, the internal transfer speed dropped to 7MB/s but it was still a more stable transfer rate than doing it wirelessly. Connecting to extension leads both ends dropped the transfer speed further so if you get these, try lots of combinations until you find the optimum. I also purchased a 5M Ethernet lead to connect the upstairs PC to a plug socket in the ring main which has enabled me to reach the limit of the router.
You can also add a third one if you have additional devices around the house. note that each time you plug in one of these it will take while to settle and the speed will increase a little during the first few minutes.
Have now connected a repeater switch to the upstairs unit which gives strong Wifi through whole building.
I'm with Virgin and get their boosted 50 meg broadband, with this kit I achieve those speeds MOST of the time. There can be fluctuations throughout the day due to interference from things connected throughout the house (Wireless doorbells, extension plugs connected right next to your adapter, or in my case charging your laptop).
This kit provides a consistent connection most of the time, compared to my previous TP-Link, which had sudden drop outs for some reason - this is great in that respect.
For avid gamers this is excellent, do not be fooled by PS3/PS4 speed tests, I get speeds of around 30 meg on my PS4 and those tests are unreliable, whereas running speed tests on my laptop gets speeds of around 50-54 meg (when there is no interference)
If you do get really slow speeds, don't be disheartened like I was - just mess around with things connected nearby and see if it makes a difference.
Only time will tell if these adapters deteriorate over time or provide the same great speeds for years to come.

Pretty useless. Was fine for 3 months until one adapter died inexplicably.Published 4 months ago by Amazon Customer
You have to have about 20 of them in every socket to make the internet reliable or of any worthwhile speed.
Or rewire your house so they work.
No nonsense homeplug. Works as simply as plugging in both devices from router to device.Published 5 months ago by Mr H Chan
