This review is specific to the T6E Archer AC1300 model...

Comes well packaged and looks really good in black especially if you have a side window on your case, Speeds are phenomenal and this would be perfect if you want to do HD Gaming, Streaming or Video conferencing assuming you have the Router and Broadband connection to match. I bought this for a new computer build and it is true to say like many have mentioned that Windows 10 DOES NOT recognise this out of the box. The first time you turn the machine on (or if you're upgrading an older machine) you will need to download the latest driver from the TP-Link Website. As soon as you download and install the driver windows recognises the wi-fi card and available networks should start to show up, you may require a system restart. If you can't plug your PC into the router directly via Ethernet (so you can download the driver) then i advise you download the driver to a USB stick prior to installing this card in your machine.

The driver can be found at the TP-Link site, simply type into any web browser your model number and it should take you there. The Driver you require is called "Archer T6E_V1_151105". Sadly when i first tried to post this review i was sent an email stating i was not allowed to post a direct link to the driver.

VERDICT: It looks great and performs even better, it makes no noise as it doesn't have any moving parts, nor is there any coil whine from the circuitry. If you are installing this into a Windows 10 machine AFTER MAY 2018 then you will need to install the driver i mention above and the device should work fine. I suspect many people buying this product didn't know about the driver requirement and have therefore returned them. TP-Link should make this clearer in their sales literature to avoid confusion and frustration but all it needs is the driver and it should work fine as it did in my case. I'm therefore going to RECOMMEND this product ... just be aware of the driver issue before you buy!

On windows 10 64bit, do not use manufacturers drivers.

If you want this to run properly on windows 10 64bit, do not use the manufacturers drivers. With manufacturers drivers, the card would "die slowly" when using all the bandwidth (for example, downloading a 60GB game on steam would stop at the 8GB mark and would only resume if I disabled and enabled WIFI back again). The Archer T9E is a BCM-4360 based card so I strongly advise people to use the Broadcomm BCM-43XX Wireless LAN driver 7.35.333.0 WHQL reference drivers instead (require manual install from Device Manager). Search for "broadcom_wlan_7.35.333.0" on google. These drivers solved all my issues and the card is now working like it should.

TLDR: On Windows 10 64bit avoid manufacturers drivers, search "broadcom_wlan_7.35.333.0" on google and install these instead.

Why bother?
I have currently been using the built-in motherboard wi-fi but was wondering if jumping to Wifi-6 would improve my Wi-fi speed. I haven’t spotted a wi-fi 6 router yet that has good enough reviews to shell out hundreds of pounds for a replacement, so I figured I’d start with the PCIe adapter first at around £50. I did spot an Asus one that was slightly cheaper, but it was out of stock, so the TP-Link was my experiment.

My spec:
PC: 6 year old desktop pc with an Asus motherboard that supports 802.11a/b/g/n/ac 2.4Ghz & 5Ghz (Broadcom 80211ac chip)
(Windows 10, 64bit, intel i7-4770K 3.5 Ghz, 16GB Ram, Samsung 1TB SSD)
Router: FritzBox 7530 (Supplied by Zen ISP)

Installation
On receiving the TP-Link AX-3000 Archer TX3000E PCIE card it was straightforward to install. There was however a cable that attaches to the card and plugs into an internal USB Port. This is to get the Bluetooth 5.0 working. I didn’t have any spare USB ports and never use Bluetooth so I left the cable plugged into the card but not the board for now as I may change my mind later.
There’s an external Antenna that screws into the two connectors at the back of the card.
Please note I had a few issues connecting to any Wi-fi at all initially but soon realised I hadn’t correctly tightened (or I hadn’t aligned the threads up correctly) the nuts. So, make sure you don’t make my mistake as you may end up writing a bad review unnecessarily.

Software
After installing the card and switching on my PC I went straight to the TP-Link Website and got the latest version from the downloads section. I didn’t bother with the install disk that came with it.

Testing
My router and internet connection has the ability to provide up to 300MBS when directly connected via a cable That’s my theoretical maximum. So below are my test results:

Asus built-in wi-fi (using original antenna)
2.4ghz (down/up): 88MB/32 MBs
5.0ghz (down/up): n/a (Signal too weak to connect)

Asus built-in wi-fi (using TP-Link antenna)
2.4ghz (down/up): 79MBs/32 MBs
5.0ghz (down/up): 111MBs/32 MBs

TP-Link wi-fi (using TP-Link antenna):
2.4ghz (down/up): 96MBs/32 MBs
5.0ghz (down/up): 176MBs/32 MBs <------

TP-Link wi-fi (using old Asus antenna)
2.4ghz (down/up): 38MBs/32 MBs
5.0ghz (down/up): 123MBs/31 MBs

Conclusion:
The antenna alone makes a big difference but the two together is giving me faster wi-fi than before. So for me it’s a win. Meanwhile my next project is the wi-fi 6 router but I’m happy to wait until the right one takes my fancy.

Terrible performance compared to cheaper alternatives

I'm connected to Virgin Media 200Mbps fibre and use a Netgear Nighthawk high performance WiFi router. Up until now, I've been using a £12 USB WiFi adapter on my PC upstairs. The speeds have been rather good hitting 170-190Mbps in my speed tests. However, I was short on USB slots and decided on this PCI card card to free up some space.

Firstly, the antennas supplied out of the box gave terrible coverage. I was getting approx 20Mbps on my connections which is a waste of the extra money I spend on the router and internet. I picked up some 3rd party omni directional antennas which connect to the PCI card via a cable and have moved them to multiple locations to test the coverage. The performance has been less than satisfactory with speeds between 50Mbps-70Mbps. Even my son's mediocre laptop with it's onboard WiFi is out performing this adaptor.

It would have been cheaper to buy a USB hub...
