Great little switch at a superb price! Each port has a single LED displaying link status (solid on) and activity (blinking). The unit also has a separate power-present indicator. The RJ-45 sockets feel snug and well made, and the unit itself is very small (slightly larger than an average packet of cigarettes).
Also, it will happily run off a decent USB power supply (with the appropriate cable that you'll need to source separately, see below for details), as it requires a 5V DC input for power.
If you're looking to do this, you'll need to note that this unit uses a 3.5mm outside-diameter DC plug with a 1.3mm inside diameter (polarity is standard positive-to-tip). I could not find this info anywhere online before I bought it. So I hope it's useful to somebody else looking to power this switch from a USB power supply (the reasons why are long, boring and irrelevant, but it was something I really needed to do). There are many USB Type A male to DC 3.5mm plugs around which will help you do this, for a few pounds.
