What This Product Does
The TL-R470T+ load balance broadband router is a wise choice for small business. It brings you high return on investment with low overhead. Featuring three changeable WAN/LAN ports, TL-R470T+ supports up to 4 WAN ports, which can satisfy various Internet access requirements through one device. TL-R470T+ integrates multiple load balancing strategies, advanced QoS and strong firewall to provide you with consistent network uptime and reliable Ethernet connectivity. Moreover, it is easy to manage the TL-R470T+ via a web-based utility, which makes building and managing your network more convenient.
∙ Up to 4 WAN ports equipped with advanced load balance to guarantee maximum bandwidth and backup capabilities
∙ Provides extensive client account and network management for administrators with supported PPPoE Server
∙ Marshals bandwidth resource to specific clients based on their unique application environments
∙ Smaller case for cost-effective solution in the small office or Internet cafes network
Three Changeable WAN/LAN Ports
The TL-R470T+ features three changeable ports that can be set to either LAN or WAN, allowing the router to support up to four WAN ports to satisfy various Internet access requirements through one device. The router also has an integrated smart load balancing function which automatically selects the most efficient line according to load and bandwidth requirements, providing users with consistent network uptime and reliable Ethernet connectivity.
Abundant Security Features
For defense against external threats, TL-R470T+ can automatically detect and block Denial of service (DoS) attacks such as TCP/UDP/ICMP Flooding, Ping of Death and other related threats. Moreover, this router provides IP/MAC/URL/WEB ¬filtering functions, which forcefully prevent attacks from intruders and viruses. For applications such as FTP, H.323, SIP, IPsec and PPTP which are not well compatible with NAT, TL-R470T+ offers administrators one-click enable of ALG choices corresponding to the above five applications.
Efficient Access Management
By setting a PPPoE Server to allocate PPPoE accounts to private network users, the router only allows users with legal accounts that have passed authentication to access the Internet. Cooperating with IP-based Bandwidth Control, it is capable of confining bandwidth usage of certain PPPoE accounts. Moreover, the E-Bulletin function is able to release a bulletin in the form of webpage to certain user groups periodically, which notifies the users about the expiration date of the PPPoE account. With the above features, the router will prioritize different users in surfer jurisdictions for more efficient management.
Safety Minded Enterprise Investments
Professional lightning protection technology is designed to prevent electrical surges from penetrating the interior of the device, to be discharged harmlessly into the Earth. This router is designed to prevent lightning damage of up to 4KV in the well-grounded connection conditions. This feature ensures that networking infrastructure investments remain as safe as possible from one of Mother Nature’s more violent elements.
∙ Dynamic IP, Static IP, PPPoE, L2TP, PPTP, Dual Access and BigPond Cable Internet connection options easily connect to Internet
∙ Time-based access control allows parents or administrators to establish restricted access policies for children or staff
∙ IP-based bandwidth control allows administrators to determine how much bandwidth is allotted to each PC which guarantees the performance of VoIP or video applications
∙ PPPoE server and E-Bulletin help administrators better manage the client accounts
∙ Built-in firewall supports IP address filtering, MAC address filtering, URL filtering and WEB Contents(Java, ActiveX, Cookies) Filtering
∙ Virtual Server, Special Application, DMZ host and UPnP help users build their own servers

I literally plugged my existing broadband modem into this, plugged this into my home network, rebooted the pcs and bingo Im up and running and can still access the router cp behind this device!
Superb - update to follow once line two is installed in a week or so.
I now have three routers feeding this box.
2 x Talk Talk @7mb down / .8 up each
1 x Three Mobile (All You Can Eat Data) @7mb down 2mb up
The setup is working like a charm. I've gone from 6.5mb down .8 up to around 20mb down / 3.5mb up.
Love it. Really love it. In my area, we don't have cable and this is the only way for me to achieve half decent speeds.
Set-up really is a breeze and once it's done you can just forget it's there.
Highly recommended unit.
The R470T+ works well in these environments, and handles double-NAT without issue. Throughput is adequate for a standard ADSL2+ connection, but we would suggest an upgrade to TL-R480T+ or TL-ER5120 for larger organisations or faster connections, as the stated throughput is higher. A much more powerful CPU is fitted to the TL-ER5120, and it's only about £150.
Configuration is not Netgear easy, but can be quickly figured out. One tiny pitfall for those used to configuring more complicated devices - a NAT forwarding rule *doesnt* require a matching firewall rule.
This router does not support syslog, nor is there much in the way of logging; only a basic system log, so again - consider a more powerful device if this is required.
This little router was a doddle to set up and it hasn't given any problems since it was connected over a month ago!
If you need a multiple WAN router then this is a very good option!
I haven't had any need for this restart issue people have mentioned so maybe that is down to certain setups!
One key gripe I have with the unit supplied, other than being old stock, is that neither its automatic load balancing nor manual configuration of priorities and balance correctly drive traffic through the WAN you require.
due to my rural location my ADSL connection maximum speed is 2Mbit, where a tethered mobile connected via a suitable router can deliver 8-10Mbit.
I bought this router to connect both these to my network with priority for all traffic to go via the 3G and only failover to the ADSL (and if that all worked as desired, some specific gaming traffic that's a little more latency sensitive to prioritise the ADSL), however you configure this - it seems to force majority of the traffic via the adsl resulting in poor performance of iplayer/youtube and so on that struggle at 2Mbit by themselves, never mind shared with any other traffic.
The ONLY way I could ensure that traffic went via the 3G was to either disconnect the link to the ADSL modem or release the ip that linked to it - otherwise this router steadfastly ignored any setup that told it otherwise. at one point I tried setting manual balance as high as it would allow in favour of the 3G link and even at 99% vs 1% set to 3G I was able to monitor 90% or more being sent via the ADSL.
Set up was easy with two modems in bridge mode to connect to BT. Wifi Access points on the LAN...Now records speeds of 19-20Mbs down and 1.5mb up.. Very reliable no drops...Skype for business excellent QoS even with family giving it large on Xbox 1/360 and PS4/3. Twin NASs and Internet TV all operating in stable mode. I can also revert to load balancing if I need to have large video conf with Global
Great little box, Can't wait for 2nd Broadband to come on line so I can play with the DUAL WAN load balancing...
5th star will come when 2nd ISP available... Come on BT hurry up...
OK A little late updating...
Works brilliantly. 'twas a wee bit tricky getting the correct IP configuration for an external 'slave' router to work with the 2nd WAN but that was probably down to my level of dumbness.
For a second WAN it must the on a separate sub=net , enter a spare subnet address as the 2nd WAN e.g. IP: 10.0.0.2 , Mask: 255.0.0.0, Gateway: 10.0.0.1 for the real external router (which is 10.0.0.1 and is itself internally configured for its own external IP) and it just works.
Just added: So chuffed with this and have had so many problems with kit on my dusty farm and we're way out there... And we get a few lightning strikes a year... so I bought a second one just in case.... at ~£30 a pop why not.
