HASH(0x9368e87c) out of 5 stars Loved it! 26 May 2009
By Russell Atlas - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
Loved this book. I've been following David Toussaint's columns for about a year, and this new collection was fantastic. Having had a few of my own "Chelsea Boy" experiences, both good and bad, I could really relate to those essays. I had no idea there would be sections that were purely political and/or purely fun (the one on Madonna, for instance), and I liked the way those were interspersed. I don't think he writes like David Sedaris so much. In fact, I'm not quite sure who he writes like. I just love what he says. Sharp, usually witty (a couple tearjerkers), and veryy current!

HASH(0x9368eb34) out of 5 stars Loved It! 9 Jun. 2009
By William Hellow - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Toussaint's writing has a wit and charm that takes the reader on a roller coaster ride -- one that we can suspect he's really riding in daily life. He's irreverent and funny and jumps between nostalgia, politics and pop culture like a skilled acrobat, occasionally landing on a well-crafted nugget that truly makes a person pause and think. This is great read and I look forward to more from Toussaint.

HASH(0x93834804) out of 5 stars Funny and Smart 16 Jan. 2010
By Cecilia B. - Published on Amazon.com

This is perfect reading for the Kindle, since it's a collection of Toussaint's columns, the kind of thing you can read piecemeal. Toussaint will startle you into laughter when you least expect it, but he really shines when he dips into more emotional territory. Buy this. It's worth your time.

HASH(0x93834b40) out of 5 stars The tempest 20 Nov. 2009
By Brett Edward Stout - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
With trepidation and curiosity we look back on the things we've done and the people we've experienced. It is rare to capture the truth of introspection in words as the fleeting whirl of thoughts move too fast to articulate. But, it is sometimes possible to bottle wind. In Toussaint, the author manages to capture the wistful way our minds wonder as we consider our past and it's relevance to what is yet to come. A great read.

HASH(0x93834d50) out of 5 stars Kindle and Toussaint - A Perfect Match 9 Feb. 2010
By S. Kilmer - Published on Amazon.com

Reading Toussaint is one of the best ways I can think of to spend time with your Kindle.

Intriguing and sexy. David's writing lets the reader taste what it is/was like to grow up and discover yourself as a loving gay male - all without spoiling your appetite for another chapter, another loss, another disappointment and another love. His stories are more heartfelt than I would have imagined, exposing the underlayer of parody we use to hide the pain.
