Product Description

Toontrack Drumkit from Hell EZX - Virtual Drum Software aka DFH® was originally created to address Toontrack® Musics own needs for better and heavier drums in musicproduction. As a result the Toontrack® productionteam decided to record a drumlibrary with the best musicians and producers available in Swedish heavy metal.Little did they know what they had started. Drumkit From Hell was awarded 5 of 5 in Sound on Sound and an EQ Magazine Exceptional Quality award and launched Toontrack® Music and the DFH® brand in a major way into the sample business enabling the development of the Superior and EZdrummer® samplers. To celebrate and signify the importance of Drumkit From Hell Toontrack® has decided to re-release it as an EZX® expansion pack for EZdrummer®.The DFH® EZX® contains the essence of what Toontrack® is originally all about. The commitment to excellence through collaboration with the best players and producers aimed at helping you to make better, more inspired music. This version of DFH® includes both the original DFH® release and the Add-On pack that was released subsequently. The sounds for DFH® were played, recorded and produced at Dug Out studios by Tomas Haake, Daniel Bergstrand, Mattias Eklund and Fredrik Thordendal. All sounds have been re-mixed at Toontrack® Studios by Mattias Eklund and weve added custom MIDI files from the diabolically gifted musician and guitar player of Meshuggah, Fredrik Thordendal plus MIDI played by Tomas Haake of Meshuggah, Owe Lingvall of Nocturnal Rites, Mattias Grahn of Naglfar and Efraim Juntunen of Persuader. Metal at its best. Rock on dude.

5.0 out of 5 stars And now for a review of the actual PRODUCT 26 Nov. 2007
By Anthony Volpe - Published on Amazon.com
These drums sound absolutely incredible. You can't go wrong with any of the expansion packs for EZDrummer (hell, even the Twisted Kit sounds neat), but the Drumkit from Hell is absolutely fantastic. The quality is amazing and the realism is unparalleled.

It's software like this that threatens to make real drums obsolete. Yeah, daring claim. If you don't believe me, go to ToonTrack's website and listen to these drums yourself. Good luck picking up your jaw from the floor.

4.0 out of 5 stars Easy as pie! 22 July 2011

Toontrack's expansion pack, DFH, is a great addition to a wonderful product. Ideal for those metal heads who need a "heavier" sounding kit, or need more double bass, this is the expansion pack for you!

After install, I was up and running and ready to add some decent sounding drum tracks to my songs. Very easy drag and drop format and plenty of grooves to choose from. Even backbeat and blastbeat grooves. You can create a song anywhere from metal, deathcore, grindcore, and more with these grooves, or you can even create beats yourself. They have special sessions including grooves straight from the talented kits of Thomas Haake, Daniel Bergstrand, Mattias Eklund and Fredrik Thordendal.

It took me no time to create my first song. After a couple of hours recording some guitar and bass tracks, I just had to fill in the blanks with DFH. It took me no more than five hours to have a decent sounding demo to share with friends (and that's with multiple guitar/bass takes, rehearsing, mixing, and more..)

As other reviewers have commented, there are a LOT of cymbals to choose from, but the drums are rather limited, which is why I rated it four stars.

Set up is easy enough - however, you do need to register the product before use. Easy enough, and it only takes a minute. Just copy a couple of codes and fill out some contact info and you'll be good to go.

A great addition at a FANTASTIC price on Amazon, and an especially great deal on shipping with Prime.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Software Ad-On 19 May 2013

I'm a huge fan of EZ Drummer. DFH has some awesome midi that I can cut and paste, loop, edit, whatever I need to do, easily, to get the drum part I'm looking for, or inspired by. I'm a guitarist, and I don't know the first thing about drums, other than what I want to hear, and this kit and EZ Drummer make it simple - the learning curve is next to nothing.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great Cymbals, Horrible Everything Else 24 Nov. 2013
By TheWinterSentinel - Published on Amazon.com

This EZX expansion has its strengths and weaknesses. First of all, the kicks and snares are horrible. Horrible. The kicks are flat and dry and the snares are generally pretty thin. The toms are okay... but the cymbals are pretty cool... very aggressive and perfect for a hard rock or heavy metal sound. And there are twelve different cymbals including the high hat, and all of them can be swapped out for other cymbals.... so basically, you have a lot of variety (three different splashes, five Chinas, and a ridiculous amount of crashes and rides and crash-rides).
For this reason, I use this in conjunction with the Metal Machine EZX. The Metal Machine one has fantastic snare and toms, and much better kicks, but only mediocre cymbals. However, I like to use DFH for the cymbals. So in other words, if you just have the money for one EZX expansion, I recommend you get the Metal Machine. However, if you can afford to get two (keep in mind that these go on sale periodically for only 40 bucks), get this and use it for the cymbals in conjunction with Metal Machine.
5.0 out of 5 stars ... it is simply the only thing I have ever needed. 11 Mar. 2016
By Tony - Published on Amazon.com
I have been using Toontrack's EZDrummer(now in version 2) w/ the Drumkit From Hell expansion for almost 10 years now... it is simply the only thing I have ever needed. I play everything from classic rock to death & black metal, although my primary genre is 1960s-70s-sounding doom metal, and I have ZERO problems finding beats or designing patterns. It's literally drag-n-drop into your DAW - you could build a drum track in 5 minutes or you could spend days detailing every little nuance, it's totally up to you. It just WORKS- and sounds GREAT!

Here is a short 7-minute tutorial video I made on building beats with DFH: [...]
