The TCL DP608 is the ideal home TV with its minimalistic design. Offering 4K HDR quality to enjoy Netfix and YouTube, which is 4 times more details than in Full HD. All of this combined with Catch up and On Demand TV through Freeview Play.

Unfortunately some aspects made it clear why it's actually a cheap TV and bit a top brand one. Sadly the European versions are quite a bit different than the US models.
Good image quality despite the low price. Colours popped out and overall it looked the part on full HD and uhd quality (not tried a lot of HD or sd).
Relatively good build quality and decent design. Felt decently solid but not perfect.
Easy to set up and menus fairly easy to navigate.
Gaming on Xbox One S was OK with no lag or discernible ghosting.
Good connectivity (including satellite aerial)
Slim and easy to use remote.
The TV I got had visible and annoying light bleeding in bottom right corner. This was very obvious in darker scenes and at low light (my flat is relatively bright even at night so pretty noticeable). Despite trying different settings I could not reduce it too much or make it less annoying even at min backlight it was still visible).
Sound although decent in clarity is very week for volume. Got the volume half way and barely audible (again medium room 3 feet distance from TV). No bass at all and no apparent surround.
Sometimes the images had a slight purple tint to them.
Calibration is decent from the box but very difficult to RE calibrate afterwards. Either stick with default or spend a few hours to get the best out of it.
No apparent information on European models. Definitely not Roku TV. TV is made in Poland and the op is rather basic with
limited apps for example missing Amazon prime. Library itself is quite limited also.
System is a bit on the slow side and gets stuck sometimes.
Got Netflix stuck 5 times in 5 days which also caused the TV to reset itself everytime(not very stable)
Only had the unit for 5 days but decided in the end to asked for a refund and went for a Samsung model (better quality imo).
Overall it's not a bad offering and decent attempt for tcl to push onto the European market. Sadly TCL eu is not as good as its US counterpart.
For 280£ it would be a decent choice for a cheap 4k TV but the TV does have some shortcomings.
I would rank it 3 stars despite the issues but would think hard at buying again. Hope TCL will improve their eu line up to match the US versions.
I pre-ordered it for £350 which was a bit steep because I was originally gonna spend £250 on a 1080p one, but was swayed by 4k to spend another £50 then by HDR to spend another.
I don't use the TV's speakers so can't really commenton them, but I use Logitech Z333 speakers instead via the headphone out jack.
The picture quality is great. A little bit of backlight bleed but nothing major. Colours are vivid, much better than anything I've watched telly on, you'd be spending thousands to get the same quality two years ago. Make sure you have HDMI 2.0 on in the menu (not on by default) or you won't get 4k.
The Smart interface isn't something that I often use as I have it plugged into a BT box, but when I've used it it's not too slow but also not lightning quick. Glad I bought the BT box though as I'd grow tired of it quickly, although I haven't seen a single TV that has an excellent interface.
I also don't use the stock stand either as it doesn't fit on my (pretty standard) glass telly stand. Mounting it is a little strange as it uses M6 bolts which are not usually supplied with mounts, so you'll have to get your own. The mount is also a 100x100mm vesa mount which is abnormal for anything bigger or heavier than a 27" monitor.
Honestly, unless you're a TV snob this telly is perfect for you. I'd say it's pretty future proof as it's 4k and HDR. I plan on having it for at least 10 years myself.
Update: 4 months in
Use the telly every day, no problems. Have used the speakers and they're not great but not complete trash. Have used the Netflix app and YouTube app and I think they're meh, again just get a box, either a Roku, fire stick or YouView, I'd recommend getting them with any TV anyway. Little bit annoyed I paid £350 for it at this point when the price has dropped so much lol.
Adding the stand to the TV was straightforward, just a case of lining it up and screwing it in using the included screws.
I've been using it for a few days now and I've had no problems with the picture quality or functionality of the TV itself, still getting to grips with some of the fine-tuning options to make it suit personal preference.
The negative aspects I have experienced have been sound quality, it is fairly quiet and at times slightly tinny sounding, a problem I fixed with an external speaker.
Overall the benefits far outway the negatives I have experienced, for the picture quality available the TV is great value for money.
Overall, I would highly recommend to any family or even students that are looking for a good Tv at the lowest price.
For the price you pay this TV is simply amazing.
If you are very fussy , don't even bother to order it.
You can go for LG,Samsung and Sony but totally different prices.
I paid £235 for a 43",great value for money!
