TBS6205, the successor of TBS6285, is a DVB-T2/T TV quad tuner card with PCI-Express interface, it can be used for watching four different channels from four different frequencies simultaneously, and it supports DVB-C standard at the same time. TBS 6205 works also as a digital video recorder for recording digital terrestrial TV programs with full HDTV support. With the Time-shifting function, it enables you to pause a live broadcast and continue from where you left. This DVB T2 PC TV card is ready with windows BDA driver and Linux driver. It's ideal for watching UK Freeview SD and HD channels on your desktop PC. *Please ensure you can receive the Digital Terrestrial Television (DVB-T, DVB-T2, Freeview) service in your region. The TBS6205 requires you use a high-gain roof aerial to enable and enjoy reliable digital television reception throughout the UK.

Linux installation is perhaps not for the inexperienced, but it works well. This has replaced a 6281 twin-tuner card which has been faultlessly running 24/7 for several years, and it looks to be of identical build quality.

Nice 4 channel HD Freeview tuner

Tuner delivered today and have just installed it in Windows 7 Pro x64 i7 8GB. The card has 2 screw ports RF in and RF out (for looping to 2nd tuner - only one aerial lead required). Comes with adapter for regular co-ax. Tuner does cable + OTA. I only wanted Freeview, so I copied the supplied driver disc to desktop and in device manager clicked update software and pointed it to the tbs6205dvbt folder.

I scanned with Windows Media Center and found about 175 channels, which I edited down to the 40 or so I watch. Everything works OK - HD + regular SD stations, good sound + video. Recording 4 channels at once tested and works OK. So I'm quite happy with this purchase.

Also supplied - half height backplate, small indoor aerial (not tested). Linux drivers on the install disk.

I bought this tuner card from Value AV Limited. I found them extremely helpful, patient and very efficient - the card arrived the next day. I recommend using them. I bought the card when it was still quite new and difficult to find in the UK and the distributor had recently taken over from previous UK distributors.
As for the card itself, I've been using it for several months. It was easy to install and get up and running. I can record on at least 4 channels at once (and often do). Standard and HD reception here are normally excellent, and despite the aerial being split before it reaches the computer, the card gives very good quality recordings. My new computer is a Windows i7 with a solid state drive and storage is on a 2Tb HDD. Less powerful computers may struggle to cope with the number of simultaneous recordings, but this one allows me to continue working while the recordings are being made.
So far the only (minor) problem I've found with the card was with the pass-through loop. I used it to take the aerial lead on to my old computer as a test, and discovered pass-through only occurred when the new computer was switched on for some reason. This isn't a problem for me because I have another splitter in the aerial feed. If you're adding another tuner to the same computer, this won't matter.
I notice one reviewer has commented on interference from electrical power supplies and equipment. In my case, the aerial lead passes immediately behind the monitor, and a few mm behind an extension lead with 6 sockets in constant use. The landline phone (wireless) and mobile also sit on my desk near the aerial. I'm embarrassed to admit the aerial cable also snakes across the doorway for the time being (don't ask!), and is regularly trodden on. Yet after several months of use, I haven't noticed any trace of interference. I use the modern RF cable which is better insulated than older types of co-axial cable. I'll look for the receipt and add details of it to this review when I find it. The screw connectors are much better than the old style co-axial push-in type, which on my pr3evious computer tended to become loose after a while.
While the TBS 6205 wasn't cheap, it is very good value compared to every other tuner card I've used, and I've used several over the years. The effort to find it was worth it and I strongly recommend this tuner card.

For those times when two is not enough...

Having built a home-theatre PC using a TBS dual-tuner (see my other reviews), I found there were times when two were not enough, so I took the plunge and bought this (slightly later model) quad-tuner. Good move on my part, I think. Like all tuner cards, it needs a good signal, free from interference, but if you have that you won't regret purchasing this one.
It has F-Type screw connections, but comes with an adaptor to allow the use of the traditional co-ax plug - however, if you have the ability to do so, I'd recommend fitting the correct F-Type plug to a good, fully screened cable. This eliminated some slight problems I'd been getting with the occasional drop-out on the old card, and ensured that all of the Freeview channels are now picked up - prior to the cable upgrade, some of the HD channels had been a bit hit and miss (Winter Hill transmitter).
EDIT - after six months of continuous use, the card failed - I think this would be an extremely rare occurrence, though, so don't let it put you off getting one. More to the point, Value AV could not have been more helpful in sorting out the issue and deserve a big thank you for an absolutely amazing level of customer service, the likes of which are not often seen these days. A totally trustworthy company I would recommend to anyone. So THANK YOU, Value AV!
FURTHER EDIT - Found that I was getting green flashes on certain channels (e.g. Dave) using Argus TV and Kodi - cured this by turning hardware acceleration OFF in Kodi. It will probably depend on what your particular setup is, but worth a try if you are getting them.
