About the Author
Frances Hodgson Burnett is best known for her children's stories The Secret Garden, A Little Princess, and Little Lord Fauntleroy. Born into the slums of Manchester, she wrote realistic working-class tales with romantic plots. ways of the Americans and the British are both amusing and,
in many instances, still believable today.
The characters are well described.
Snobbishness, class and education divide, selfishness and generosity are
all covered with humour and skillful fresh writing.
