Synopsis

Two friends, a rabbit and a cat text each other and agree to meet in the woods to chat, eat sweets and drink coffee. i bought this book on the strength of the cover illustration after seeing it mentioned in a guardian illustration suplement. i can assure you i was not dissapointed. the simple black and white linear illustrations are captivating and beautiful, while the dialogue is sweet and very revealing. it warms you up and makes you laugh while at the same time pondering the relationships that form life. a purely lovely book.

Format: Hardcover
This beautiful little book is infused with a child-like essence in both the simplicity of its cyclic storyline and the friendly black and white line drawings. "Sweets" has the feel of a classic and yet is totally contemporary - the two animal friends plan to meet in a wood by texting: " Fancy going to the park to eat some sweets? PS You bring the sweets." The childishness of the animals' thoughts and their phrases makes me smile, capturing perfectly that special small person logic as they switch seamlessly, and in minimal text, from a train of thought about sweet-eating to deep thoughts about what happens when you get to heaven. These are reassuring yet amusing for a child, yet make their grown-up chuckle too. Lovely!

the cover is simple, which is good- and eye catching. i came across it by mistake
but bought it without reading it- and it was well worth the money. the drawings alone are worth buying it for.
the story is sweet and the drawings are well drawn.
this is a great book for kids as well as adults
with a childs heart.
i just have one more thing to say...go buy it.
