Gavin has only ever wanted to play baseball, being the only thing he is good at, he missed college and went to playing pros. But being away overseas for six months has its perks, he has gained fans, fame and is having fun but now he misses home, and he will openly admit he wants to see his family and friends. But things are about to all change when he hears from Cade Griffin, former college hoops star. Now Gavin has got to rescue his sister who is stranded alone here in Florence, surely that seems easy enough right?
But Kady Griffin is completely off limits & gorgeous and a sweet disaster waiting to happen in his life.
Sweet Disaster is Book 4 in The Sweetest Thing Series by Sierra Hill. This book is part of a series but can be read as a standalone. But after reading this book I will most defiantly have to read the previous three books in this series. I can’t wait to see what other great stories she will bring us.
This book was such a captivating read that I couldn’t put down. This book had me entranced, swooning, and I loved every minute of it. I loved reading about the two characters in this book they are captivating to read and I liked everything about them. I haven’t read the other books in this series but you didn’t need to for you to be able to enjoy this story, it flowed well and you didn’t feel as though you were missing any important things from the previous book. I loved the connection that developed between our two main characters, it heated, sexy and steamy. They had a lot of back and forth but this made you even more determined to see them together. This book made you feel a range of emotions from happiness, anger, heartbreak, angst and hot under the collar. But you could feel these emotions due to how powerful these characters were to you and made a big impact to the story.
Sierra Hill gives such vivid descriptions you can’t help but imagine all of this book while reading it. The detail given of Italy it’s as though you are their along with the characters. The characters that this author creates are real, relatable and make an impact to the reader while getting completely captivated with this read.
I loved the chemistry that these two characters had. It started off slow, but continued to build even though they both knew nothing should happen between them, but once they eventually realise they are what each other want and need their passion moves to the next level. I loved seeing their connection blossom and change. These two are defiantly an incredible couple as they each balance each other out with an instant attraction, and have you wishing and hoping they get a HEA.
Another thing great about this book is that its written in Dual POV’S. This gave us a great insight into what each of them were thinking and feeling rather than reading and hearing it from the other person.
Kady is a sassy, feisty woman that’s just wants to prove she isn’t a screw up but trouble just seems to follow her around. When she knows what she wants she isn’t afraid to go after it. She also has the tendency to say what she thinks even before she thinks it through which is most of the time. She is individual and doesn’t like the expectation people expect her to have or to follow she is her own unique person that I grew to like more and more through the journey of this book.
Gavin, was swoon-worthy from the start. He is funny, sweet gorgeous and goes after what he wants. He isn’t afraid to put Kady in her place when she steps out of line. But he also shows a vulnerable side to him as he wears his heart on his sleeve. He really does try to resist her but he becomes so aware of their connection he can’t help but give into a steamy sizzling attraction that takes him high upon any game he may have won.
This is a great read that you will not be able to put down. Be ready to experience this ride along with some incredible characters that hook you from start to finish! Don’t miss this read!
By Sierra Hill
Another amazing read from this author! I have read another book by Sierra Hill in this series and loved it so I couldn’t wait to read Sweet Disaster, the fourth book in the Sweetest Things series. This book can be read as a standalone. I think I was pretty much hooked from the very first page! The storyline was great and I really loved the characters!
I loved Kady, she sounds like someone you would want to go on holiday with. She had a great sense of adventure even if trouble always seems to find her. The setting for this story was so beautiful and the author did a great job of describing it well. I could imagine everything I was reading and it is pretty obvious it’s a place the author has been to and loved. When Kady finds herself in a rather sticky situation she needs her brothers help! He manages to get her fixed up with his friend’s brother Gavin! Gavin is a rather sexy, tattooed basketball player who comes to her rescue! Gavin was a brilliant character! The banter between him and Kady was great! She got under his skin in more ways than one! I loved that he wasn’t you typical sports star, yes he had his moments but he was different to what I expected! There were some nice twists with Gavin’s character which I thought the author really thought about and wrote about well. It’s not something I have come across before in a book and it made him feel so much more real.
There was a great mix in this story; we had romance, hot steamy encounters, laugh out loud moments and a whole lot of angst – all of which for me make a perfect contemporary romance story with a sports twist! I definitely need to go and read the two books I am missing from this series so far – I know they will be just as brilliant as this one!
‘Every family has someone like me – the “black sheep” of the family and the one they shake their heads at whenever they screw up again.’
Kady was stuck in Florence because she ran out of money after escaping home and going to Europe. The only person she could turn to was her brother who managed to get her accommodation for a short time. His name was Gavin, he was a professional basketball player whose team was in Florence. He never expected a person like Kady to be in his life.
‘Kady’s like a burst of fireworks in a cloudless night sky. Sparkling and exploding through the dark with her magic. And maybe I want to be the one to light the fuse.’
I did like the Marvel and DC reference. I like it when there are nerdy things in a book. I feel that I rate the book higher if it has nerdy things in it.
‘No one’s ever accused me of being like Mary Jane… Poison Ivy, maybe…’
Overall, this was my first book in the series and it did not matter that I had not read the other stories because it did not take away the understanding of this book. The characters, I felt, were so relatable because there is always an odd one out in the family. After reading this, I am going to read the rest of the series!
