I really like this item, as in the past, I have had to be careful with scalpels, and covers come off, leaving the blade there, and dangerous. This retracts the blade, and takes the same scalpel blades that I used with my old scalpel, with no worries about anyone getting hurt. Much safer.

I often need to take a precision knife with me when I put signs up and always had the problem of how to carry the normal Swann Morton, but this is exactly what I needed. The blade retracts completely so it is not exposed to break or catch on something, a little bit heavy and would not use it everyday in the studio but excellent for outside jobs. Would suit designers, signmakers, architects, Cannot comment for medical use.

I am really pleased with this handle as it is so easy to use.
I did at first have a problem with getting the blades in, but then noticed that there was a small slot for it to slide into before it clicks into place. Once I had discovered this, replacing and removing blades is very easy to do, but I ALWAYS use a pair of pliers to grip the blade. So much safer than just using the fingers and risking a cut.
This should last for years. All my other craft knives have been of the plastic kind and soon break, this is a far better option as it will last. Some of the others I have had in the past do not have scalpels and I have found that they are nowhere sharp enough to cut through 300gsm card and it has been hard work, ending up with sore fingers, but with the Swan & Morton, there is none of that. as it goes through like butter..
Thoroughly recommended

Classic item for my stationary collection - I use them as part of a work kit and for art projects - I have several of these, because I sometimes have one in an overall pocket, one on a desk, and a couple in my bag for other people to use! It solid, compact, comfortable to use. I have had times where I have had to use disposable knives for jobs, and they are horrible flimsy things, the worst. Nice to have something with a bit of weight to it, especially when you are at risk of slicing an artery several times a day!

Fantastic little craft knife that is second to none and the only manufacturer I would use .It's retractability is its USP and it's brilliant for that alone and gas saved me many an injury over the years when dropping it!!
The design is also perfect for holding and working on precision cutting where feel of pressure and movement is required in delicate work.
If your after an extremely sharp precision knife then this is the Only one to look for!!

The 10a blades i had were a different brand and despite fitting in the holder they had a straight top edged and these would not extend properly.

Gor a cupal o dese 4 da homies, propa sharp man an ezy to stick in ya pokit wivout kutin yasen innit..

Seriously though.. What a great idea, I have broken so many blades dropping the normal scalpel off the table and its a pain having to put it away carefully every time I have finished using it for a few minutes, this one just slide the blade back in and its perfectly safe. Good quality too I might add..

I am suitably impressed

This is great and arrived quickly. It's a really high quality handle that feels substantial and the blades clicked into place perfectly. It makes working with the scalpel blades feel safe and controlled. Being able to retract the blade is so helpful when leaving the knife in my workspace.
