I did at first have a problem with getting the blades in, but then noticed that there was a small slot for it to slide into before it clicks into place. Once I had discovered this, replacing and removing blades is very easy to do, but I ALWAYS use a pair of pliers to grip the blade. So much safer than just using the fingers and risking a cut.
This should last for years. All my other craft knives have been of the plastic kind and soon break, this is a far better option as it will last. Some of the others I have had in the past do not have scalpels and I have found that they are nowhere sharp enough to cut through 300gsm card and it has been hard work, ending up with sore fingers, but with the Swan & Morton, there is none of that. as it goes through like butter..
The design is also perfect for holding and working on precision cutting where feel of pressure and movement is required in delicate work.
If your after an extremely sharp precision knife then this is the Only one to look for!!
The 10a blades i had were a different brand and despite fitting in the holder they had a straight top edged and these would not extend properly.
ones i got branded blades the handles are perfect.
Seriously though.. What a great idea, I have broken so many blades dropping the normal scalpel off the table and its a pain having to put it away carefully every time I have finished using it for a few minutes, this one just slide the blade back in and its perfectly safe. Good quality too I might add..
I am suitably impressed

Much better than the crappy stock handles, will save you finger cramp on long cutting sessions and stab holes in your leg when keeping in your pocket.Published 3 months ago by Amazon Customer
Better than the one given away with the blades. Difficult to attach blades needed three hands , firm when attached properly though.Published 4 months ago by westberks
