Jaimie Roberts does it again!! Damn, this author just gets better and better!!

This book drew so many emotions from me and in one scene I was borderline blubbering. We have four main characters in this book. Alice, Kyle, Sarah and Ethan although it is told from Alices POV. Alice is such a gentle soul who would do anything for anyone. Ethan is a doting man who is successful and wants nothing more than his own family. Then there are Kyle and Sarah.

I don't want to say too much because it will spoil it for you, but what I will say is be prepared because in true Jaimie style, she puts a twist in there where you least expect it.

A glorious 5 stars and more from me. I am surprised that not more people have reviewed this book yet....its a belter in my opinion.

I so enjoyed this very unusual clever story by Jaimie Roberts. I love her work and although I have not read all of her books by any means, I have loved the ones that I have read. Well written and totally addictive, once I started I read it in a day and to me that is the sign of a great story because I just couldn't put it down.

This is the story of four main characters Alice and Kyle and Sarah and Ethan. Alice offers to be a surrogate for Sarah and Ethan who are desperate for a child. Although Alice has wanted a baby of her own for a while, her husband Kyle is not so keen, so being the loving considerate person that she is, she wants to give her friends the ultimate gift of life because she loves her best friend Sarah and hates to see her so upset. A wonderful gift to them both and nothing could go wrong - or could it ?

I loved all the characters in their own way although there were times that Alice came across as weak and should have been stronger and that I didn't much care for. Kyle - an arrogant demanding man with only one opinion and that was his and if Alice didn't abide by that all hell broke loose, his temper and attitude out of control.

Loved Ethan of course because who wouldn't; successful doctor, kind, good looking, considerate - the perfect husband.

This is the first book I have read by Jamie Roberts and I have to say I'm so glad I did!

I had a love hate relationship with the character's. I loved the chemistry between Alice and Ethan. And the last chapter in Ethan's pov helped me understand him so much better.

Sarah and Kyle I could not stand them!

I was hooked on this book right from the first line. I highly recommend this book and cannot wait to read more work by this author!

I absolutely loved this book. Definitely one of my favourites from Jaimie. I did question where this story was going as it did seem a little tame for Mrs Roberts but she never fails to add some darkness and twists!! You can not go wrong with a book from Jaimie Roberts!!

A lovely read, I enjoyed this book, but it wouldn't be Jaimie without that WTF moment and of course it's there.

Having read quite a few Jaimie Roberts' books now, what I have come to realise is that she writes a really really good story and before you even know it, you've gone and read those final words.
What stops me from rating a maximum 5 Stars is that I often find the dialogue can sometimes come across as unnatural. Take for example, in this book, a discussion between Alice and her best friend takes place. The best friend decides to give a blow by blow account of how to pleasure oneself and whilst that told me what type of character she was, I just didn't feel that it is a conversation that would happen in the way that it did in this book. It felt more like a sex tutorial to me. Again this is something that happened on a few occasions, where the dialogue between characters is used more as tool to explain something rather than show me the personality of that character.
What I adored about this book though, was the fact that it is set in the South West of England, a place I absolutely love. In addition I loved that there was a clearly defined Hero/heroine and also antagonists to really throw a spanner in the works. And whilst I guessed pretty much straight away what was eventually going to happen I did find that the Hero wasn't quite what I had assumed him to be by the end. I'm actually not sure about the way things ended on the whole and yes I get that it is probably more down to my own personal preference, but I also imagine I won't be the only one who feels this way.
So I conclude that the story itself was great and an entertaining read on the whole, but there were just a few issues I had that made it not be the amazing book I know it is more than capable of being.
