Jasper ended things with Ava while he visited her, after an argument he storms out and she doesn’t hear from him again. So for her returning home is bitter sweet, she loves Veronica and would be there for here in a heartbeat, but she isn’t sure that she is ready to face Jasper. Although they both soon find out that they will be seeing a lot of each other as they are both playing rather important roles in the wedding of their friends.
Jasper is fighting the feelings that he still has for Ava, he believes that she has moved on especially when she finds out she is back with Harper. He is hurt and he doesn’t know how to be around her. One minute he is angry with her and then next he just wants to hold her. Sadly for Ava her feelings for him are the same. She is only with Harper as she believes that Jasper told her to move on, as he had.
Jasper and Ava try to fight their feelings but that soon becomes impossible. Many twists occur in the book that leave you stunned. If they want to be together they will have to fight with all they can. Ava and Jasper are an amazing couple and if they can just look past all the hurt between them, then maybe they can have the future that they deserve.
I loved this book and I can’t wait for the next book in the series. Well done Monica James on a brilliant follow up to Ava and Jaspers story.
“My heart is yours. It beats for no one but you. Do you hear me? Only you?”
However I was a little bit angry at times! Mainly because as Ava returns to LA 6 months after leaving it, and Jasper, behind she returns with Harper!! Seriously? I actually on reading the first few pages messaged the author saying, and I quote, "omg she's getting married to Harper?? I can't wait to see how that happened and I'm going to be reading late yet again lol"
I then proceeded to stay awake until after midnight, once again reading this authors book in one sitting.
Obviously the fact Harper is with Ava doesn't go down very well with most people who knew her before, especially her friend V! She is getting married, and that is why Ava has returned. But being back for a wedding she has to face up to the fact that she will come face to face, once again, with Jasper. Can she deal with seeing the pain she has caused him? Can she honestly contemplate getting through a wedding while Jasper stands mere feet from her? Will Ava be able to resist the pull of Jasper, or will she once again succumb to his charm? And his body? And his eyes? Need I go on any more?
I cannot say enough how much I love this series. Jasper is seriously hot, and the scenes where he and Ava are together are scorching to say the least. Yet again the author manages to through a spanner in the works right at the end, leading to me being desperate for book 3!
In the intervening four months the storyline changes dramatically. When we last left Ava and Jasper, they had pledged their undying love for one another as Ava departed for a scholarship program at the CIA (Culinary Institute of America) in Singapore-the same place where he ex boyfriend Harper still resides. Of course, you can see the problems approaching now that Harper and Ava are going to be in close proximity to one another.
The relationship between Ava and Jasper has fallen apart due in part to a piece of information that the reader is not privy to throughout most of the building story and when Ava returns to America with her ex-boyfriend in tow, things go from bad to worse with every encounter between our leading couple. And to complicate matters, Ava keeps the truth about her relationship with Harper a secret-one that even her BFF Veronica is not aware. Harper and Ava are back together as a couple and the reasons Ava keeps close to her heart.
The reader is pulled into another storyline of emotional ups and downs especially when Jasper is unable to stay angry with Ava for very long. His need and love for Ava has barely survived their separation and is clearly spiraling out of control as the storyline progresses. Jasper and Ava's connection can be felt to the deepest part of their soul: their love for one another is both heartbreaking and sad because of the elephant in the room-what went wrong and why?Read more ›
