When they arrived, I have to say I was actually really disappointed as they are nothing like the picture implies. Instead the material texture feels thinner and the overall look lacks the character of well worn, chunky, stone washed shorts. Furthermore, some of the stitching appears to be a bit haphazard with loose cotton thread in various places. I feel that these shorts should have been cheaper for the quality received. For a little more money you could buy the "real thing" and be far happier.
When they arrived I found that they are 41-42". On contacting the company, which turns out to be in Germany, they say that they know about this but won't take responsibility for it, blaming Amazon for the size guide. At the time of writing, they are saying that I can return them for a refund but they won't refund my costs of returning them to Germany. Completely unacceptable, given that the size problem is their responsibility.
I purchase goods from Amazon all the time but I won't be buying clothing this way again. Very unimpressed.
For a start, they look very nice indeed. The photo's hardly do them any justice. In today's market the 'distressed' look seems very popular, especially with jeans. I don't really like that as a rule, but these shorts are the exception. They look 'weathered', and rather than having the appearance of being old and tatty, the design is more akin to simply looking like you've had the shorts for a long time. They look like they suit you perfecty, and yet to the wearer they feel crisp and new.
I found these shorts to be comfortable to wear. They are very lightweight, and not at all heavy like most canvas shorts. The belt that comes with them is the old fashioned pull-tight belt, and it does the job fine.
The lining of the shorts is smooth, with no horrible stitching sticking out to irritate your skin. They feel tailour made rather than mass produced.
The outward appearance is nice too. The colour is especially smart, I have the green/olive ones and they go with everything.
The pockets are also worth a mention. Usually I don't use outside pockets like these for fear of losing things when i sit down, but the pockets on these shorts feel quite secure. They have two sets of poppers, with a pop-down flap at the top. So, rather than being cosmetic, these pockets are actually perfecty serviceable.
When all is said and done, I consider these shorts to be a quality item and definitely worth the extra money. There are plenty of pairs of shorts on Amazon that cost next to nothing, and i'm sure some of those items are perfectly fine, but in my opinion you certainly get what you pay for, and I don't mind paying a little extra for a quality item.
The overall quality of the product was worse than expected.
The shorts are made of thin cheap material, they quality of the stitching is poor, they are not "distressed" or worn in looking at all. There are no ties on the legs or waist and no belt.
To be honest you would be better off getting something from the local market. Then at least you can see what you are getting beforehand and know its going to be pretty poor before you start.
