The characters are just ridiculous, poorly written and just didn't work for me at all.
Dyson was the worst. I think when authors try to write with slang words, sometimes they can make it work and other times, they can't. This was one of those instances for me where what Dyson said and how he said it actually took away from my enjoyment of the storyline.
If the above aspects were improved this could actually be a really good story.
Talk about being a bit of (or more like a lot of) a playboy. I mean only track racer Dyson would bring two blonds with him to his physical to show off, only to then get it on with them with a threesome after its done. Seems like he needs a lot of attention and they were only too happy to oblige.
Ava gets quite an eyeful when she first meets Dyson. After opening the door to the exam room before his physical even starts she is confronted by one very sculptured butt – Adonis eat your heart out! If she thought that was the only part of him she would see that day that would make her blush she was wrong – especially when Doctor Wilcox asks Dyson to remove his pants so he can check everything. Seeing his whole package – one he is not shy about showing – is one sure way to turn Ava completely beetroot. Right from the start she can see he is going to be nothing but trouble, but trouble is looking all kinds of good when he starts chasing her down.
From the moment Dyson meets Ava he knows that she is someone he wants to get to know better, and by better he just means to get in his bed. He wastes no time with starting to flirt with her, even with his Grid Girls in the room. Something they don’t like but he is quick to remind them of the rules he has – with them its just sex, nothing more nothing less and they know it. Which is when they decide to show him just what they are good at.
Ava doesn’t think she will see Dyson again but fate seems to have other ideas. When her boss Doctor Wilcox says he can’t go on the road with the team as their physician he suggests Ava go in his place.Read more ›
Next we have Dyson, he's a race car driver for Formula One.
I felt like this book was just kind of put together as I had no real connection to the characters. I almost felt like it's been done before. Nothing that really stood out to make it unique.
There will be some spoilers to back up My Opinion
It was constantly Dyson this, and Dyson that to where it was like a stiff conversation. He and Him, also work.
Simon ( the nephew) is to be a main plot point in this book, most things revolve around him. Ava loves him more than life but he's always put on the back burner.
For some one who's a main concern he's always put in the second best category..
He's mentioned over and over, but has no real story line.
Then we have the Russian "grid girls"
They are Dyson's play toys. One minute they are there, the next they aren't. This goes on, here and there with no explanation.
Then here's where the creative writing into fiction became off the wall. I understand it's fiction but I mean really??
Things that happen are just so far fetched. There is believed fiction of; you can see this happening in real life.
Also the blurb goes into Dyson's past. There was nothing at all to say now I understand this is why he's this way. It actually made me wonder more, how he could feel okay being the way he is??
All in all this story flowed well, was an okay read. If you are looking for something light on angst and fluffy, this book is for you.
Surge had me hooked from page 1 I just couldn't put it down, its the kind of book where you forget about the real world and get lost in the story, next thing you know its hours later and you have finished the whole book.
In Surge we meet Dyson & Ava, the chemistry and attraction is there from the moment they meet, they are both dealing with stuff in their lives and it just isn't the right time to start something together but the lust and need becomes to much to ignore.
Dyson is a Formula 1 driver, a total manwhore, cocky as hell but also sexy as f*** ... he starts of in the book a cocky s*** and is awful to Ava,, he is dealing with a few issues and throughout the book I really start to like him, when he behaves himself and treats Ava right.
Ava is raising her 7yr old nephew after his mother(her sister) passed away.. I love Ava, she puts Simon(nephew) first before anything in her life.. she is a lovely person, also a nurse and that's how she meets Dyson.. she is instantly attracted to him but wont peruse it, she can tell he is a manwhore. she has no family of her own, only Simon and her roommate... she is lonely.
They have a rollercoaster of a relationship, 1 minute they are friends, then lovers, then they hate each other. Ava takes no crap from Dyson and stands up to him when all other women drop at his feet..
This book has everything you could want from a great romance read, funny, hot sex, suspense, sad moments and lets not forget a sexy race car driver.
Overall- A really great read, keeps you wanting more, a little rushed(my opinion) towards the end but nothing drastic.
Its a defo must read and it did not disappoint..
A great start to a series, I cant wait for more... 5* all round

This was a brilliantly written book that just pulls you into the story. It is fast paced with highs and lows and some cheesy one liners. Well worth 5 starsPublished 4 months ago by Mrs Andrea Gillan

Overall a good read. Some of the text could have been less obvious though e.g. "I spent the next few minutes ..." or words to that effect, were repeated throughout. Read morePublished 8 months ago by Sharon
