Bought this for ipad 3rd Gen. wifi plus 4G. The material is a hard yet flexible clear plastic/gel about 2mm thick (not soft), it allows the apple logo and serial numbers to be seen so has little impact on what the ipad looks like when this is fitted. It overlaps the edge of the screen by a couple of mm. It fits the ipad like a glove, the cut outs for cables speakers, camera, controls are perfectly positioned and quality cut. The apple smart cover also fits perfectly so no need for more protection. It leaves the ipad looking cool! Can now put ipad on any surface without worrying about the back being scratched, it will also protect from knocks on edges. Really pleased with this well worth the money.
For travelling I bought a soft neoprene sleeve (with no zip) for the ipad for about £3 (dont spend more it is not worth it unless you want a special colour) but I doubt this is needed now with the Smart cover and Flash Superstore Gel case combination.
