Shola Ama has to be the UK's best female vocalist, and still remains the UK's premier soul/RnB artist. Discovered at 15 Shola wowed everyone with her debut album MUCH LOVE. She has sold over 4 million records worldwide, won 2 MOBO awards, a BRIT award and has recived the respect of the music industry, and music lovers around the world.
Shola can wrap the critics around her little finger. Her first album, MUCH LOVE was critacally aclaimed, both by the press and the industry. Her second album, In RETURN, Received amazing reviews. Many classing it as "The UK's best soul album ever!". And it looks like the press haven't stopped their love for Shola yet. SUPERSONIC has been given some of the best reviews any album can get!
"AMA has created one of, if not the best soul/RnB album EVER!"
SUPERSONIC gives you all you'd expect for Shola. Stunning vocals, soulful tracs with swirls of RnB, personal lyrics, and something pure and different. On Emancipation (I'm Back), Shola gives you her lyrics and vocals at best. Big ballards are also strong on this album with Here On Earth, Blood From A Stone and Sym4ony-Feat. Danny K, all showcasing Shola's truly amazing voice. Tracks like Electro High (Supersonic) and This I Promise U will make sure your dancing and singing along with Shola!
In short Shola has done it againg. She has given us one of the best albums ever to come from a UK artist. Its a shame that the album is still yet to be given the comercial success it deserves.

This album is fantastic, god only knows why more people don't know about it. Listen out for such tracks as 'this i promise you' and 'granny's yard' will get you singing and dancing along, i only hope we'll be seeing much more of shola ama after her collaboration with the pirates, naila boss and ashanti for the reply to 'i don't wanna know' by mario winans - "you should really know"

HASH(0xa05e693c) out of 5 stars Shola returns with a more mature sound 27 Aug. 2002
Format: Audio CD
The third album of my beloved Shola Ama has a far mature sound to it. The first track called Emancipation, it's an amazing track which reminds a lot of Rodney Jerkins and Shola sounds like Jennifer Lopez. It gives you a sort of taster of what to expect from the rest of the record with it's great rnb rhythm. Symphony (a duet with a young male british singer called Danny K) and Here on Earth are very beautiful ballads with great vocals from Shola. At the end the title track of the album called Supersonic brings a slight rocky feel with it, very discoteque and funky. The album produced by the Ignorants and D'Influence and this is personally my overall favourite album from Shola!

HASH(0xa06397bc) out of 5 stars British R'n'B at it's Best (Yes, I just said that!!!) 16 July 2003
By Jerry Headley - Published on
Format: Audio CD
I would describe this album as..... Edgey..Intense...futuristic, with a heavy dose of UK style funk. This album shows UK R'n'B at its best, so why just a release in Japan?? Anyway, lets not detract from the fact that this is a well-written and wonderfully produced album from one of the UK's premier female R'n'B vocalists. The album takes you on a seductively rhythmic journey from the swaying "My Future" to the futuristic, bass heavy "Electro High (Supersonic)" it is a rotation-heavy collection of serious soul that is sweet on the ears, yet deep on the funk. Even with the Import price, this is a must buy that you can't go wrong will not be disappointed.

HASH(0xa1e0e6c0) out of 5 stars very good 19 Dec. 2003

A very good album - and better than any other Shola Ama album so far. The first tracks like "My future" and "Emancipation" are very much Soul. Shola Ama in her known D'Influence style. But she also offers new sides. The album has a very electronic touch. A highlight is e.g. "Electro high". So this time it's a bit like Kraftwerk meets UK Soul.

shola was taunted as the next british r&b superstar in the late 90's. She's been compared to Faith Evans. i really like her vocal style she doesn't go overboard with the usual soul riffing and vocal histronics.
this cd is mostly filled with harmonius midtempo tracks.

stand out tracks are
this i promise u, sym4ony, u &me, here on earth,blood from a stone etc.
