Andy is the class nerd. No-one likes him and no-one talks to him. Even his parents and sister don't want much to do with him. He's smarter than most and the only person in his life who understands him is Grandpa. When he finds out that Grandpa has terminal cancer and just a few days to live, the bottom drops out of his world. The good news is that Grandpa has not gone forever and returns to help Andy in the form a ghostly spirit. Grandpa's mission: to help Andy get the love of his life to the movies!
Will Andy ever be able to summon enough courage to speak to the lovely Zoe? Will he save her house from burning down? Can he convince his parents and his therapist that he's not crazy? You'll just have to read on to find out more!
This was a fantastic 5 star read, which will appeal to both children and adults alike.
Eran Gadot is an excellent writer. One of the best mystery adventure books in the last time. I've recommended it to all my friends and really believe this is a book worth reading. It also has something for everyone, from an alluring love story, to the attractiveness of superhero stories and last, but not least, the supernatural dimension that wins the day. A fun read!
Of course he manages to fall for the prettiest girl in the school! Poor guy. When tragedy strikes his family Andy finds out that he has a gift. A supernatural gift. He can see and talk to the dead.
Together Andy and his Grandpa are on a mission. To bring Andy and this girl together.
It was a quick but heartwarming read. It can be hard as an adult, to convincingly write from the point of view of a kid but Eran certainly hit the nail on the head with this one. A highly recommended read!
I can't recommend this book highly enough. Grab it, your kids will thank you for it!
One of the biggest strength is that I really think the author managed to relay what a child would genuinely think – it could very well have been written by a little boy, if his understanding of the English language was exceptional, that is.
Your heart has to go to poor little Andy who just wishes he had more people who cared about him. He’s ever so sweet; but what I loved the most was his mean strike. Damn, it’s pretty lucky that he hasn’t got the access code to a nuclear bomb; his school would go up in a mushroom blast.
The story is realistic; I won’t give too much away but it definitely deal with what children (and adult) have to face everyday – such as grief – and tells it through the eyes of a six grader. I believe it would help parents understand their kid, and other kids understand people around them.
The sporadical illustrations at the beginning and end of each chapter aren’t too much, they contribute to the story without making it too juvenile – it’s a big kid’s story, and they wouldn’t want to seem like babies ;)
All in all? I don’t have much to say against it: it was a wonderful tale.
‘Supernatural Hero’ has it all, bullying, loneliness, triumph of the underdog, friendship, ghosts, and of course love. I loved the thank you for Andy Murray "a geek become a hero"!
The plot and characters are well-written and thoroughly engaging. This is a great book for middle school kids that even the grown-ups will love reading!
