Super Street Fighter IV (SSF4) is an expansion of the eagerly anticipated Street Fighter IV that came out last year. There was huge hype in the run up to the game because Street Fighter III was released only in Japan, and it has been 15 years since the classic 'Super Street Fighter II Turbo', renowned as being one of the best fighting games ever, was released.

Added to this expansion pack are 10 new characters, some from earlier versions of the Street Fighter franchise like Dee Jay and T Hawk, and some that were made especially for this game, like the evil female Taekwondo fighter Juri and Turkish oil wrestler Hakan. Also, a second ultra combo has been added to each character, giving the player the choice of two devastating manoeuvres to select before a match. The players have also been rebalanced to make the characters pretty much as good as each other in their own way.

Another feature, which will probably be the one you'll be playing most, is the updated online play. There rarely is much lag, which means good, clean, exciting and consistent fun. There are many modes to choose from. You can fight ranked matches, fight team battles, endless battles, and if you're serious about improving your strategy, uploading replays to watch after a fight.

The one disappointing feature of the last instalment was the laughable story modes, with the lack of depth and down right silliness in some stories and rivalries between characters, such as the 'Are you Fei Long?...Yes...Really...I do not have to repeat myself!!!...FIGHT' scenario or Blanka's decision to fight El Fuerte simply because he doesn't like people who wear masks, frustrating.

Let me start by saying that had never played a Streetfighter game before I bought Super Streetfighter 4. I had always played the Tekken games on PS1, but now I wanted to try something else. And something else SSF4 is indeed! The combat mechanics are totally different from Tekken, but definitely not in a bad way. Combo's are harder to do, but much more rewarding if you pull one off. That is, with SSF4 I have the feeling it takes actual skill (rather than just knowing the button combinations) to become a really good fighter.

Aside from that, it should also be mentioned that SSF4 is not just an expansion on SF4 (which came out last year). It is a game in itself which is a a superset of everything offered in SF4: a few characters have been added, some new game modes have added, some improvements have been made, etc. So if you have SF4, it might still be worth considering buying this game. Also because the game is charged at a lower cost. For more information on this matter, I refer to IGN or GameSpot.

My conclusion is that the game is definitely worth a shot. I have already spent countless hours trying to beat up my fellow man and enjoyed the hell out of it! :-)

...fighter since SF2.
Big bonus that all characters are now unlocked from first play of the game. Another pro is that all the characters are a bit more balanced and equal than the previous game (though some are obviously better than others), meaning you'll find yourself playing with more of a variety of the characters since the weaker ones aren't as poor in relativity to the stronger ones, this means more playability, more replay value and more value for money.
As with all SF games it takes minutes to learn and years to master, and that remains, as it always has with SF, the main pull if the game.
As if that wasn't enough it's the online multiplayer experience that's really the biggest success of thus game, can't tell you just how well the online section of the game works or just how much fun it is, you need to get a copy and have a go yourself - AND all this for a ridiculously great price.

Street Fighter is one of the most famous titles in videogame history. it was the first game I bought for my PlayStation 3 and I enjoyed it a lot. the very fact that it is a mixture of cartoon and martial arts make it a successful and suitable for gamers of various age groups.

Hello all,

I won't discuss the advantages of buying this one over SFIV, you can get that by reading the other reviews.

I want to discuss about the old-schoold feeling that CAPCOM put in this title. It made me to remember the '90s arcades and the endless SFII fights. The remixed themes are of better quality, the character designs, although new and revamped have the same signature moves and priorities (similar to the ones in SSFIIT).

The real power of this game comes when I compare it against competition (BlazBlue, Tekken, SoulCalibur IV, MK VS DC etc.)... maybe it's just me, but this is the only title that I can play for 22 hours a day without getting bored.

Old Schoolers out there, put this title to good use, it deserves every penny.

Thanks!
