So, I've only actually slightly dampened two cats with this but the pooping on the grass (honestly what cat poops on a lawn?!) has stopped. It could be the "fake cat" has scared them off, it could be they don't like the citronella sticks we bought but neither of those things gives me the satisfaction of seeing a cat's backside bounding away instead of laying a stink egg on my grass.

For the record, we also tried the green garlicky gel stuff (got stepped over), an electronic cat scarer (got pooped behind) and "Silent Roar" (it's lion poop - initial results were impressive when defecating kitty left us a mouse instead of a turd but didn't last).

I wish the rest of you well in your battles against feline excrement. This certainly seemed to earn me some grudging respect from the neighbourhood cats. It only loses a star on range - I would ideally like a "sniper rifle" style water pistol with a range of 30 metres but I don't think such a thing exists and I don't actually want to hurt the offending moggies!

Like several other reviewers here I bought this to scare off the cats that foul in my garden and prey on the birds here. When one particularly loathsome version started sitting on the trellis eyeing a nest of baby birds I decided that I had to up the anti. The sonic devices I've got installed don't seem to have deterred the ghastly things neither has the extra panelling on top of the fences.

It's a big gun! I thought I was purchasing something that would fit in my pocket but instead it's like something out of New Vegas (if you know Fallout).

It's easy to aim, the range is good and I have taken a childish delight in seeing the cats run for cover, falling over the fence into their own gardens in a blind panic to escape my gun. I have to admit to learning to 'shoot' in both New Vegas and Skyrim so I don't know if that has improved my aim or not. But actually the scatter effect ranges quite wide and if you aim to get the edge of the cat, it runs into the rest of the 'fire'. You can then return to the house to laugh yourself silly for 5 minutes! So, yes, it's value as fun is unsurpassed. I almost prefer it to Skyrim.

So far, Cassandra 2; cats 0... I just hope that both are fouling in each other's gardens so the owners too can have a taste of what it's like to have uninvited and unwanted visitors to your garden.

The baby birds are doing fine... so it was worth every penny!

Worked for me - six cats all visiting my back garden, two of them every day, leaving little "presents" for me to dispose of. The range is about 4 or 5 metres I'd say, and I bought it because it holds a lot of water and doesn't need batteries.

1st cat visit: He looks at me strangely while I point and shoot. The water barely reaches him but he runs off immediately.
2nd cat visit: He runs off as soon as he sees the gun when I open the back door.
3rd cat visit: He runs off as soon as he see me open the back door.
    4th cat visit: There isn't one. :)

For the price this is a brilliant durable water gun. It shoots five seperate blasts to maximise soaking and has a decent tank so it can store quite alot of water. This toy is hours of fun and in my opinion it is alot better than the more over priced nerf water guns released this year.

We got this on the recommendation that it was the best for scaring stray cats and because of its long range and quick fire mechanism (no having to pump before spraying) its starting to work on the cat that keeps terrorising my cats at home. ( my three cats are too timid to take on this one cat! Hence I had to intervene )

This was perfect for what I needed....a water gun to fire at the pesky cat that tries to catch the birds I feed!! It doesn't harm him but reaches far enough to scare him off....I haven't seen him so much lately. Beats everything else Ive tried!!

I bought this specifically to gently persuade my neighbour's pussies that digging up prized plants and leaving me presents is not on. The cats are never hurt as the water rarely reaches them but it does a brilliant job. I leave it by the back door fully loaded and now I only have to pick it up and walk into the garden with it and they are off! They visit less frequently now so it served its purpose. Don't worry folks, I love animals and would never hurt them. As for the gun itself, quite accurate and fun to use.

If you are thinking of buying this as a cat deterrent - don't. It is not fast enough to operate nor does it have sufficient power. As an aside - those electronic machines that are supposed to deter cats simply don't work either. I am surprise they are allowed on the market in the UK.

My rating for the current product reflects the fact this is a toy and does not pretend to be anything else.
