The picture quality on the eBook edition is terrible, like it has been photocopied twice before being scanned. The colour pages at the start are fine.

HASH(0x93d3b3e4) out of 5 stars Another great read from Aoki Ume 29 Mar. 2011
By Z. Lee - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
Being a fan of Aoki Ume's work, it isn't surprising that I'd give this product high marks in terms of amusement. Sunshine Sketch is a unique 4-koma that follows the lives of four students living at the Hidamari (Sunshine) Apartments and attending the nearby art school. Most of the humor is subtle, but satisfying, in the form of puns and amusing character interactions.

But despite the immense amount of wordplay and puns, the translator, Satsuki Yamashita, pulls off a surprisingly superb feat. It's easy to be leery of English translations of manga, but in this book Japanese cultural aspects and the wordplay have been preserved, and the translator's accurate notes in the back page do a good, concise job of explaining the more obscure references or jokes.

Definitely purchase this if you're at all curious or interested in Aoki Ume's writing, art, humor, or even just the characters themselves.

Remarkably wonderful and fun to read: I'm very satisfied with this purchase.''''

An exceptional piece of literature. One of the best I have ever read in my entire life. Each chapter left me hungry for more. I will purchase more volumes in the future.
