Marvellous. Brought a tear to my eye when I heard it. Engleborn was nice in parts but this is gorgeous. I can't wait for the album. Iceland is producing amazing music just now and this compares well with Sigur Ros, Amina and Stafraenn Hakkon. If you like their music, you must buy this.

3.0 out of 5 stars Excellent CD! Beautiful Music! Value Injurious 17 Jan. 2013

I have enjoyed Johann Johannsson's music in a big way. I have purchased some of his CDs as gifts--particularly 'Fordlandia'. If you enjoy classical music with a `modern day/Johann's multi range of emotions-evoking flare', "The Sun's Gone Dim And The Sky's Turned Black" CD will not disappoint. It is simply beautiful.

However, I do feel someone (The record company? The seller?) is doing a disservice to the customer by charging $ 99.97 for approximately eleven minutes and forty four (11:44) seconds of music. I didn't think to check out the MP3 option to view the length of the CD--or go on YouTube. At the time of this purchase, the length was not mentioned on the CD option page. I recognize when it comes to CDs and books, for example, some seller's cost can be very high. I am glad I own this CD. But if I was aware of the length beforehand, I would not have purchased it given the price. I assumed, like most CDs, the length would be the average full length of about 45 - 60 minutes. I hope going forward more honor is demonstrated towards the customer.
CDs are not outmoded because of the MP3 transition or the resurrection of vinyl. To the best of my knowledge, `most cars' that people drive are still primarily equipped to load CDs. Something to consider.

3.0 out of 5 stars Instead Check Out Johannsson's "IBM 1401 - A User's Manual" for the rest of the story... 24 Mar. 2016
By A Reader - Published on Amazon.com
If you sampled and like the title song here, then you really ought to check out Johann Johannsson's "IBM 1401 - A User's Manual," where you'll find it in proper company as the last track. Buy the CD version if you want to know the back story (his father and the connection to that "ancient" machine). That concept album is a fine and fond homage to nascent technology. It nostalgically reminded me also of the days of mainframes and Apple IIe and 2001: A Space Odyssey's HAL computer singing "Daisy" as it wound down into its own dim and blackened end...

The product here is just a marketing tool to get your attention, but if it gets you to listen and dig into "IBM," then it's worth it, I guess.
