This title is an absorbing celebration of Sunderland's finest ever players. It is lavishly illustrated throughout with over 100 photos. It provides review coverage in local press; POS available. What makes a player a cult hero? Well he has to get stuck in, he has to be a '100 per cent er' and he has to be lovable. As much as any team, Sunderland fans love their heroes, and no fan more so than Rob Mason, author of the club's "Complete Record". In this new official SAFC title, "Sunderland's Cult Heroes", Mason takes the reader on a guide through his personal favourites. From Vic Halom and Joe Bolton, to Julio Arca and John Kay, via Dick Malone, Kevin Arnott, Barry Siddall, Chris Makin and Nyron Nosworthy, this is a true treat no fan would want to be without.

On the contrary this compilation of stories is of former Sunderland players who were so called cult heroes - often not the most skillful but who endeared themselves to the majority of supporters for different reasons. It has been put together by the knowledgeable Rob Mason and covers an interesting set of players most of whose lives, for one reason or another, could not fill a whole volume. It provides great snapshots of their time playing for the red and whites and will be of interest to anyone who has followed the team during the last 40 or so years. A very worthwhile read.
