This is an excellent book telling the story of how Sunderland grew from a few medieval houses into a thriving industrial city. It is well illustrated and carefully researched. As a lot of the heavy industry has gone now books like this will be necessary to remind us of our past. I received the book quickly and got it at a good price. I am very satisfied.

I purchased this book for an elderly friend for Christmas who has an interest in history and used to reside in the North East of England. They were thrilled to bits with this excellent account of local history.
